New Laptop Recommendations

I am looking to replace my aged Dell Inspiron running Vista.
I am happy to spend up to £500 and would like a screen size 14 to 15 inches with resolution of at least 1920 by 1080.
I use the laptop for email, browsing, watching YouTube, Excel and Word.
It has been such a long time since I bought a laptop that I am now unfamiliar with good brands and a decent specification.
Thank you for any advice.

I don't think that model if full HD, elsewhere it says HD (1366x768), looks like a retailers misprint.

Brand isnt really that important.
Go into PC world, (i know but bear with me), fondle a few, find one that you like to look of and has a screen that suits your requirements, is the right weight etc for your needs...make a note of the make and model
and then GO AND BUY IT FROM SOMEWHERE ELSE ..
You should be loking for 8Gb of ram and either a 500Gb Hdd min or a slightly smaller SSD0 -

reading through the comments similar questions were asked about the SKU and it seems that it is according to the comments, good price for FHD in that case. About time FHD was standard on 15 inches anyway.Science isn't exact, it's only confidence within limits.0 -
Thank you all for your recommendations. I shall also visit John Lewis to get a good idea of look and feel of various laptops. Their prices seem okay too.

If you're interested in a Dell Inspiron again, ask for a discount (online chat or phone), or use a cashback site, to get around 10% off.
The screen resolution you specified will bump the price up, as will Office. John Lewis tended to display nothing but top end price bracket the last time I visited.Don't you dare criticise what you cannot understand0 -
I'd be going to dell outlet and seeing whats there (Also usually some discount codes on their home page)0

I have to ask because I'm back in the UK soon and want to get a new laptop. What is so bad about Currys/PC World specifically. I know the 'Tech Guys' are useless and the sales staff are too, but the machines must be the same spec and quality as 'elsewhere' surely? TIAYou know what uranium is, right? It's this thing called nuclear weapons. And other things. Like lots of things are done with uranium. Including some bad things.
