Sky BB & Phone ending Dec 31 - feeling confused

I'm feeling confused about my Sky Broadband billing changes and when and how to switch to another provider.
I have been paying £38 a month (but £6.60 is for T.V. sub which started later in the year - a separate thing)
Billing date this month is 14th December and £48 will be due December 28th, with January and February going up to £48 due to my £10 Broadband deal ending.
My Sky Fibre Broadband and phone contract is ending on January 14th 2017, (my t.v. contract is ending 7th May 2017). I understand if I give notice too early that I may incur charges?
Last winter I had payments going out to B.T for my out of date contract and new ones for Sky at the same time and I'd like to avoid that this year if possible?
I struggle to think, concentrate and understand things at this time of year due to S.A.D. so I could really use some sound advice and a simple instructions.
For anyone looking for information on what my experience with Sky Broadband was like, I haven't had any problems with SKY Fibre all year, I'm not so happy with my TV contract which they called me up about later, I felt deceived in terms of what I would actually get with my TV deal and for £6.60 I was better off with Netflix due to the way I watch TV
.
My SKY Fibre package was a good deal for me, no throttling my high bandwidth usage (Gaming/Netflix/YouTube/Game downloads!), a router I can block neighbours TV's, tablets and phones from, decent Wi-Fi with 12 channels so I can change Wi-Fi channel if one gets too busy, up to 38mb download speed (this has been fantastic - I LOVE Fibre!) :j
I'm only going to switch because I'm likely going to get a better deal elsewhere, retaining wasn't a priority last year with B.T and their best offer was miles away from this one. I'm just not great at haggling
Edited because I just realised it's my first ever post, even though I've been visiting here for a couple of years now! I used all the advice here last year to help me switch from my BT package I'd been on from 2011 until December 2015 :P

Goto the sky website and login to your BB account.
Somewhere on there you can click through some options stating you are thinking of leaving and then leaving because of price.
It may give you a reduction in price. See how this stacks up with other providers and the hassle of moving0 -
Phone and broadband need less notice than tv. If you give a month's notice, by asking another provider to take over, they will migrate you around 10 days later (PlusNet do 10 days from the fist working day following the request), meaning you leave within the minimum term (you are in contract until you leave) and could incur charges.
This is why I made sure that my migration date was going to be beyond my minimum term end date (when Sky would only offer a poor deal, saying deals were concentrating on tv).
I'd contact your new supplier for an estimate of migration date, as Christmas will be in your notice period, so extending the time taken due to extra non-working days .
They took the full DD for my last month, but showed post leaving days as a credit, which would have been paid back, had I not taken a tv deal (so now it stays as a credit on my account).0 -
Thank you both for the responses and I'm sorry for taking so long to reply, like I said in the initial post, I struggle with mood and getting important things done at this time of year. I am now past my contract end so I will start looking as soon as I can mentally cope with it for a better option. I'm hoping the bolted on tv deal won't be affected by changing broadband provider, that started a few months later.0
