Yep, you can definitely get tinned potatoes
I will get the tubs of sweets and chocolates nearer the time just thinking of tinned stuff I can make a hamper up with for now.

Well if I was getting tins of stuff in for Christmas, it would more likely be those little tins of bacardi and coke (but perhaps that's just me:rotfl:)

Well you learn something new everyday. That still leaves the question as to why would one buy potatoes in a tin.
If you are including packets I would go for dried fruit.Rational judgement, now, at this very moment.

you have crisps twice on your list mansey
how about:
tins of sponge pudding - jammy/syrup/chocolate and spotty d.ick
cashews
cereal bars
tins of fruit
branston pickle
ketchup
brown sauce
mayo/salad cream
crackers
cheesestraws
honey
toblerone
fudge
packs flavoured rice/couscous
All hampers seem to include something that no one has ever heard of, so for a complete hamper experience you'll need to wander down the aisles and pick random stuff off the shelves.0 -

no prep or waste and a good size for single people etc. Food banks often ask for them as they can't give out fresh foods and the tines don't perish. Same as asking for smash.
The tinned potatoes are actually pretty good for making potato salad or saag aloo with although the spuds have a tendency to explode. You never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have.
