I was with BT for basic internet, nothing fancy, no TV and no fibre. It was fast enough to allow us to watch catchup on two TVs at once while the kids youtubed and skype worked reasonably. Not lightening fast, but it did the job.
However I was paying through the nose for it. So when I saw a deal for EE that was less than half for supposedly the same level of service I jumped ship.
I've been jumped ship for about 2 weeks now and I am having serious regrets. For the first week everything was grand but now Internet is slow. Sometimes it completely hangs up - for an hour last night I couldn't do a thing. I've tried swapping channels etc (i'm technically competent). Things improve for a few hours and then it goes belly up again.
I could pay more for fibre - but then I'd be paying what I was at BT, and while that on paper is a good deal, I shouldn't have to spend at that level.
What are my rights? I signed up to a contract but of course there's no way of knowing what the product you're buying is actually like until you use it.

What speeds do they promise? Is it an "up to" or "between" as they'd need to be maintaining what they had originally promised- you might find more info in the terms and conditions of your contract along with any rules on early termination or any introductory times.
I am no expert but I have had many technical errors with my connection in my time, normally it revolves around their needing to "change the channel" you are connected to and if changes happen all of a sudden it tends to be a break in the connection which then 'just' needs to be fixed by BT Openreach but will only start once you complain to get the ball rolling.
Take dates and times and so on to report, once things have resolved call up to state the times you had no or limited connection with the aim to get a partial refund to your bill for those times mentioned.0 -
