Dealer selling car with wrong MOT details.

Read the ad. The ad says "Next MOT due 10/4/17" It does not say "new MOT" or "full MOT" or "12 mo MOT" or anything that suggests there'll be a new ticket on purchase. An MOT cannot be fabricated and backdated on the computerised systems that have been in place for the last decade.
It can only be an error. Deliberate or accidental? Do you trust the dealer?
£1,600 is a lot for an old Escrote, though, with rot flagged up on the last ticket. TBH, it's academic whether it's legit or not - it's massively overpriced - by at least a grand.
Look what else you could get for the money in the area...

If you're happy buying privately (always better at this price point) :

Is either accidental, or its because the car will be sold with a years MOT and its been advertised since April.
Either way, its not some grand "scheme" by a dealer.
Likewise its being advertised at that price for someone who wants a clean old Ford Escort. Of course you can buy fresher stuff for similar money - thats hardly the point.0 -
The Autotrader URL includes the date when the ad was put up - 16th Nov 2016.
Could have been a repeat ad? He could have copied the ad from somewhere else he'd advertised it?
OR, it could have been accidental as you say.
Either way i dont think there is anything sinister going on as some people are implying.0 -

Indeed. Somebody should just ring and ask the guy...0 -
Probably a mistake but even if it comes with a fresh 12 month MOT when purchased, it'll be a "relaxed" MOT done by a "mate" as previously stated. Most bottom end dealers always know a "mate" in the MOT business who will pass anything for a bit of folding.0
