Dealer selling car with wrong MOT details.
I have noticed some dealers are advertising cars with the wrong MOT details, for instance.
http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201604102817541?onesearchad=Used&onesearchad=Nearly%20New&onesearchad=New&model=ESCORT&radius=1500&make=FORD&advertising-location=at_cars&sort=distance&postcode=cv66qb&page=1
And the MOT status is,
Registration number: X923 BDP
✗ Untaxed
Tax due: 21 April 2015
✗ No MOT
Expired: 03 July 2015
So why would this be, or could it be a bait and switch trick.

Who knows?
Who cares?
Do you want an old escort?
Do you live in Fulbrook Lane?0 -
They'll get a "mate" to slap an MOT on it before it sells, the "mate" will probably never even look at the car and the buyer won't notice until 12 months time when it's too late to go back.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

I have noticed it at a a couple of dealers the mot doesn't match the mot database, but you would think they would say it will come with a years ticket as a selling point if they intend to put one on.0 -

Are you having a bad day?
People come here to ask questions, and as far as questions go this one has it`s merits unlike many of the Darkmatter AE`s :rotfl:0 -

It can only be an error. Deliberate or accidental? Do you trust the dealer?
£1,600 is a lot for an old Escrote, though, with rot flagged up on the last ticket. TBH, it's academic whether it's legit or not - it's massively overpriced - by at least a grand.
Look what else you could get for the money in the area...

I would say the simple explanation is that hes had the car in stock from April and advertised from that point, so hes advertised it MOT'd to April 17 on that basis as hes going to stick a years MOT on it before sale, therefore no, is not a "bait and switch trick" and no hes not getting his mate to MOT it without even looking at the car. :rolleyes:0
