thank OP, have just entered, my youngest has a keen interest in Rugby and has been taking pack in a club at school, so fingers crossed

It'a a competition not a straight forward freebie. You only get an email if you entered your child or entered yourself but 'lowered' your age lol. The email is only sent out for consent purposes, although it is worded like you think you may have won one, the T+C's explain that it is a competition:

"A minimum of 1500 Rugby Balls will be available for the winning applicants who will be selected at random from all correctly submitted electronic applications. Each winner will be sent one Rugby Ball, postage and packing paid.
One Rugby Ball per applicant and household only.
The closing date for applications is 20 October 2007 and all applications must be received by HARIBO by midnight on this date."

So not everyone who enters will get one
But 1500 balls is a high number so it's a good chance
