Hi can anyone tell me what happens if credit card companies refuse to accept lower payments ... do they prosecute?

Sorry, do you mean if they refuse the DMP payment offer? If your with a debt management company (such as Stepchange) they'll just send the payment they've offered regardless. You'll have completed an I&E account which will have been sent to them, along with the payment offer - which proves you are not in a position to offer more - so just relax. If you get calls, tell them to put their concerns in writing -and if they do, then write back repeating what your DMP management company has told them.. Eventually they'll get the hint and accept it.0

No wont prosecute, just means you have to stick to what you are happy to pay, as sourcrates says they might get bored of the back and fourth and sell it on.0

If creditors are not happy, they either accept eventually or sell on the debt.
Either way it won't effect you, stepchange will keep paying anyway.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. If you mean might they go for a CCJ? Well yes, they might. However the advice is the same: keep paying what you have agreed with your DMP provider and if it comes to a CCJ claim then so long as you don't ignore it and deal with the court they won't be likely to set your CCJ payments any higher than you were already paying. The creditors have every right to seek a CCJ but so long as you are paying they are far less likely to.
If you need more specific advice then you will need to give us a bit more detail about debts and circumstances so we can try and tailor the advice a little moreDFW Nerd #025DFW no more! Officially debt free 2017 - now joining the MFW's!

As Mrs Tinks says, a CCJ is technically possible but unlikely as the court would work out the instalments in a similar way to the DMP provider. It’s not like the creditor would suddenly get higher payments by getting a CCJ.
If you aren’t using a free DMP provider such as Stepchange I could understand a creditor not wanting you to be paying a fee. If that’s the case we’d recommend you use Stepchange anyway.

Most creditors don't take court action on most debts - they just sell them on to a debt buyer.
If you did get a court claim, then come on here for advice. Many claims are defendable with a bit of work.0 -
Well what an afternoon I have had.......Spent over an hour on the phone with Stepchange and have said that I cannot afford the amount that want me to pay to my creditors, they have said that I should really be paying over £350 to them. I want to pay £200.00 a month but they have said "that's not enough" can I say well "sorry but that what you are going to get"?
Can I not live please.LBM 10/9/13 £40,571 (SCARY). NOW DECEMBER 2016 £31,805.
PROUD AND STILL SCARED BUT PLODDING.

I can't answer for stepchange . They have their own thread here

But even the insolvency service make an allowance for 'sundries'
Have you considered setting up a plan yourself, maybe with help from NEDCAB?0 -

Hi,
Where is it you fall down on the budget figures ?
You don't "have" to do anything stepchange or anyone says, maybe post an SOA that would give us some kind of clue what you could be paying.
