Its 30 days notice and I want to go to their office tomorrow and hand them a copy rather than post as that way they can't say they have it (or shall I post as well)
Just want a formal letter to give notice, will check Shelter website too but in the meantime anyone has any help will be appreciated.

Dear LL
Here is my notice of X Days / Months for Property Y, to end the tenancy on ZZ.ZZ.ZZ
many thanks
Tenant
- that aside, it being Scotland I'm unsure if 30 days is actually the correct duration - hopefuly Pixie can help0 -
Yes thats a confusing one, the way the contract itself was worded is its 2 months, but over phone and by 2 different recent emails and one last year its 30 days as I asked for confirmation even explaining I wanted to move out.
So in other words contract says 2 months, agency itself (who are the landlords) say 30 days.0 -
I'm unsure, so honestly wouldn't want to give advice, the best thing to do is get some kind of confirmation written down.0
-
Well, I would assume the 2 recent emails stating 30 days, and one from last year also saying 30 days are some form of proof.0

Given the slight uncertainty I might amend Guest's wording to say:
As per your previous confirmation that 30 days notice is required, here is my notice of 30 days for Property Y, to end the tenancy on ZZ.ZZ.ZZ0 -
Or go even further:Given the slight uncertainty I might amend Guest's wording to say:
As per your previous confirmation that 30 days notice is required, here is my notice of 30 days for Property Y, to end the tenancy on ZZ.ZZ.ZZ
As per your emails dated xx/xx/xxxx & yy/yy/yyyy, and zz/zz/zzzz that 30 days notice is required, here is my notice of 30 days for Property Y, to end the tenancy on ZZ.ZZ.ZZ0 -
A mad question here but how would I word the dear "ll" bit, the agency is also the landlords as in they own the properties they rent out.
So if they were called XYZ do I put "dear XYZ" just as that doesn't sound right to me.
Also the slight confing part is they advertise properties as one name, but the name on the form as "landlord" is their building/contractor firm name so I guess thats the one I put on the notice.
Or to be safe shall I put both down i.e XYZ/ABC
And of course I write it like I put the address for serving notices on the letter itself too or just their name?0 -
I would use the company/Firm name on the envelope.
Put the company name in the top left corner of the letter as well, and your details on the right.
Then just start the letter with 'Dear Sir/Madam'.0 -
Ooh, need a very quick response as off to bed, is it 30 days notice from date of letter or next working day so today (Friday) would be 1st jan for 30 days or the 2nd.0
-
30 days from date of service.
Service is the date it is received. If hand-delivered it's the day you deliver. However to be safe, if served after 5.00 pm use next working day.
If posted 1st class, it is 2 postal days later.
It should be addressed to the name given as 'The Landlord', at the address provided for serving notices. If 'the Landlord' is a company, start "Dear Sir or madam,"0
