Gemini Parking Solutions Parking fine - Reading Rivermead

Hi there,

Yesterday I received a parking fine through the post from Gemini Parking Solutions for parking in Rivermead leisure centre Reading for £100 (or £60 if I pay quicker). I have no intention of paying this. We have been parking in the leisure centre car park week after week without any trouble as we pay for and use the facility of the football courts. On the leisure centre website it states "There is also a large 600 space pay and display car park serving the centre (free parking for centre users)."
On the letter they have photos of my car and the time it entered and the time it left. I have asked all the other people who attended that day if they received the same fine and I seem to be the only one (one guy said he's been parking there for over 20 years and never received any fines).

I've been doing some research trawling through these forums on what to do next and I'm not sure whether just to ignore it as it was not issued by police or council, write back using a carefully worded template (not naming the driver of course) or complain directly to the leisure centre.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks

    the latter

please read the NEWBIES sticky thread near the top of this forum, then use the CORRECT template

do not give away any driver details or talk about "what happened" , use the template as is

also complain to the centre and get it cancelled, plus find out if you should have entered your VRM into a machine inside on entry to the building too

ps:- its not a "fine" , Gemini cannot "fine" anybody

its a speculative invoice , called a Parking Charge Notice

If you have used your real name as your board name then you need to get mse to change it for you. You need to be an anonymous

The ppcs do monitor this forum.
  • Ok thanks for the heads up. Messaged MSE now..... I didn't think they'd be that sad as to monitor forums. If I put my real name there, how could that have a detrimental effect on me?

They are sad .... MSE is a danger zone for PPC's, it's where they come to read about their failures and in particular failure in court and their losses at POPLA.

With an anonymous user name they will not know who you are to tie up with their records

    Firstly you break forum rules.

And the ppc will have the advantage over you - can't you see that?
  • Well I'm afraid I'm not as clever as some people at using forums. Never had to use them before. This is my first time...... which is why I am asking for help. It might be an easy format for people using them for years but it's completely confusing for others. I had no idea that there are forum "rules" and that there would be people tracking you for a silly parking notice received through the post.

Yes I can see how having my name would make it easy for them to tie it all together with their records, which is why I asked to changed my name as soon as I was alerted.

No need to shoot the messenger - you asked and were told!
  • So by posting on this forum asking for advice, I've incriminated myself and done more damage?
    You can't win....
  • No need for the "can't you see that?" though.
    Ever so slightly arrogant.
