if you get direct from o2 they will prob be locked, from bigger retailers (i.e.Carphone Warehouse) they are 90% unlocked (coz stockrooms aren't usually big enough for each phone to be stocked on each network)

the four phones i have had directly from o2 have all been unlocked. not had one recently though.

From CPW I have never had a locked O2 Phone either Contract or PAYG or even for upgrades via Mail Order. The N95 I got as part of the SO upgrade I use with my T-Mobile SIM with WnW Pro.

My Nokia 6300 on contract direct from O2 is not locked - have used T-Mob and Voda sims in it.

It came with a few O2 bits on it - an O2 theme and wallpaper, a few O2 bookmarks in the internet favourites folder. That's it, I deleted them easily as they were pants.

I got it in March this year, so if there's been any change it's been very recent. The box was a generic Nokia one and all manuals etc are Nokia's own.

My family have had 2 phones in the last few months direct from O2; SE K810i and Samsung U600.
Both are unlocked, though they come with all the O2 settings, pictures and screensavers.

i had a problem with my Sony Erricson K800i, sent it back and the replacement came back locked :rolleyes:
Just about to see what the status of my new g600 is!

Just got a N95 on Monday - unlocked.

Had a replacement XDA Mini S about 8 weeks ago - unlocked.

Both on o2 contracts

just bumping this thread to get some more opinions, i don't want to open the seal on my Samsung G600 because i've decided to ebay it - so have people been getting locked or unlocked phones on O2 contracts recently??? Thanks

All my o2 contract phones whether from shop post or CPW have NOT been locked, but your question is specific to G600 and as this is new you may not get the answer you are looking for.

I would start a thread with title similar to, G600 on o2 locked or not?

Otherwise ask o2
