I would think RBS would take it, they still issue their own £1 notes.

That's what I did with one of the last English £1 notes I had, about 20 years ago - I put it in a drawer and it was the only item that was taken when my house was burgled not long afterwards! Someone must have been pretty desperate for their next fix, and as for the implied critique of the quality of my music collection and other valuables....

Snap ... well, almost. I was burgled in 1996 and they took everything except my complete collection of Janet Jackson vinyl LPs. Took me a while to get over that criticism.
