we have recently moved from "world's best" cat litter to

    http://www.naturescallingcatlitter.com/

it seems to last longer as it forms smaller easier to scoop clumps than world's best, and is also cheaper. It is made from walnut shells.

Cheap cat food and cheap cat litter = not the best combination.

I am very sensitive to smells and with 4 large cats indoors - this is the only one that works for us. People coming over (non cat people) always say they would expect I have 4 cats here. And all 3 trays are in the lving room corners so..try this one:

2 bags of this last my 4 boys a whole month, no smell, fantastic clumping and at 19.99 for 2 bags that works out 1.25 per week per cat (give or take few pence). I only ever do complete change (and wash trays) once per month.

I also use the Worlds Best for my two adult cats. It clumps well, there is never any smell and it lasts for ages because you only take out what they have produced. I usually put in a couple of scoops to replace what I have taken out.

As you've got the tray in the bathroom. try 'Cat's Best' litter. It's clumping AND flushable - so the 'lumpy bits' can be scooped into the loo and just flushed away. Just be sure to shake off as much of the clean litter as you can.

I'll look for that when I'm in town

As I said this was all spur of the moment, we had seen the cat in the rescue over the weekend , thought long and hard, went back to say yes please the Tuesday afternoon, and the cat was dropped off Wednesday morning. Only had time to make our small town which doesn't have much choice

Don't think I'll risk chucking it down the loo, we are on septic tank, don't fancy getting that blocked :)

I've got two rescue kitchens here in Gozo. There's many stray cats and dogs across the island and the SPCA take in most of them to rehome. I got them about four months ago and used a litter tray. I had to clean out every day and yes the smell was stomach-churning but having been a hands-on dad of three have a cast-iron stomach. After 2 months I got a catflap put in and it took a few days to train them to use it but now all is good and the smelly times are over. They were little loonies for two months, climbing everywhere, chewing everything and seeing everything and anything as a toy, but now they've calmed down. You'll reap the rewards of having a cat for company over the next 15 - 20 years.
You know what uranium is, right? It's this thing called nuclear weapons. And other things. Like lots of things are done with uranium. Including some bad things.

    Zooplus does free delivery.

World Best/Oko - track like hell. Had a very bad experience with those - cats carrying it on their paws all over the place so personally would not use.

Golden Grey which I linked above is the best I have come across - and some time ago we were testing quite a few on this forum lol

Sorry if none of this is clear :). I've never been a cat lover atbh I'm finding the smell of the litter and food stomach churning ( always have btw) I think I'm just over sensitive to the smell but I'd hate to think it does stink as much as I perceive it to stink
You'll get used to it, another few months and the smell won't be as bad. Sometimes I'll open a pouch of cat food an be surprised by how appetising it smells :rotfl:
I don't think it's a bad thing that he's started climbing on the work tops, it normal (highly annoying) kitten behaviour and shows that he's feeling relaxed and comfortable enough to explore, and as you've only had him for two weeks that's pretty good going.
Things like wiping the worktops and shooing him away from your dinner become second nature after a while.

Hi I have a kitten ,I use greenwood litter it's clumping and flushable though I use nappy bags and just remove the clumps . I picked him up at 11 weeks on 17th oct and have only done 1 full change of litter so far. I scoop regularly, and it never smells !
He was on dry jwb, which did make smelly poo ! But since he started to be raw fed he only poos every other day and the are small dry poos, he still does lots of wees but the clumping litter means they are easy to clear.:T

I understand. Our cat tray stinks as does the food and I hate it! As soon as I open the bedroom door in the morning I smell it. As soon as I open the front door to come in the house I smell it. Its embarrassing that the house stinks ( not all the time but you know what I mean) . I'm convinced some cat owners just become immune to the smell. I fail to see how piles of poo and cat food can't smell! The litter that seems the best is a scented pink one from tesco. I clean up as soon as there is mess which seems to be constant ( again its not but makes me feel that way). Yuck.

I used to deep fill and scoop the dirty out, but have learnt that most of the bacteria in cats poop develops over 24hrs, so to avoid this I now shallow fill the tray and empty it totally twice a day. This means the trays are always fresh as well and avoids accidents where the cats think the trays are too dirty to use.

I have huge trays (fat cat and one who lifts as she wees) and I use one and a half bean cans of litter in the tray. I find a clay based non clumping litter works best for me (clumping I was worried about them getting it stuck on their paws and ingesting it & they refused to use the wood based)
