Is this a little fishy

This house came on rightmove on the 18th of this month, since the very day it came on we have phoned the EA 6 times and my GF has called into the EA's office twice. On every occasion we have been told that the EA dealing with this property is unavailable/ popped out of the office but will get back to us when they return to the office. The last call made was yesterday. We have also emailed them several times.

Today, as you can see a notice of offer has been put on the rightmove page selling this house.

Now two things get us thinking. 1. Is it possible the EA selling this property has someone lined up for it, (a personal friend) and doesn't want to attract other offers?? And if it were me who had put this offer in would i be right to be extremely angry that they've advertised my offer??

  • Just the one photo as well, doesnt exactly invite people to view does it.
If its actually lived it and not vacant maybe put a note through the door.

Thats an idea but if they don't reply to phone calls or visits to their office then what chance of them responding to a letter and this house may sell before they do...

I meant of the property, so the owner would see it,it's the EA that's not been responding!

OP can also go into EAs offices and ask to see manager.
  • I've seen those notice of offers before..on repossessions. We had a house repossessed opposite us a while ago, it appeared on RM with an asking price of £105,000, well below market price. After a while the exact wording appeared as is in the above link..an offer of £97,500..which it went for.
I came into this world with nothing and I've got most of it left.

Sorry Joe a little misunderstanding going on here, as stated in post three the property is empty but i knew you were talking about the property itself...

Funny you should say that Steve, when we went to the property there was a notice in the window stating that if anyone wants to collect property from the house to contact a number ect ect.. So we wondered whether or not it was a repossession.

Property empty. Offer made public. It's a repo. Guaranteed!
<edit: And that notice just confirms it.>

So are you prepared to get an offer of more than that in, and can you move sharpish? Are you prepared for the work that a repo is likely to need - especially one where there's zero details or photos? Are you prepared for the risk of being gazumped right up to the point of exchange? (Which, after all, is exactly what you'd be doing to the person whose offer is currently there...)
If not, then save your breath and keep hunting.
  • This is common with repos. A lot of paperwork needs to be done before the EA will actively market.
