Safestyle UK - Bad experiences?

  • Used Safestyle in March and wished I hadn't.  They have been my worst nightmare. Young cowboy arrived to fit one window and door in pouring rain at 8pm in the dark and put me under pressure to sign the satisfaction form even though I couldn't inspect the work. Next day revealed how bad it was.  Mastic everywhere. Over the brickwork, foam hanging out where fillers should have been and could see daylight thorugh the new window.  They are truly worse than the ones we replaced. Can't get any response out of Safestyle at all since despite many complaints and promises to get Glass and Glazing Federation involved as well as Ombudsman.  Nothing seems to frighten them so as soon as lockdown is over I will be setting legal wheels in motion.
If you have any sense, don't use them, no matter how cheap they are.

This company says it is no.1 in UK for upvc windows. However, it doesn't have a showroom, has resorted to knocking on doors to sell its products, and will not arrange a viewing of any of its completed jobs. The salesman could not answer any detailed questions regarding the work, just saying they "change everything" and do a good job. Having taken measurements he came up with a price of £11,250. When I asked for a hard copy, by email or post, this was not possible, but guess what - if I ordered today he could do a special price of £3,500 but it had to be today. End of conversation.

  • I feel for all of you that have had problems with them, and hope you get your issues sorted soon.

I had them knock my door on Monday as they were “doing work in the area”: I was looking to get a quote for replace a front door and a patio door (my front door is in a bit of a sorry state so I was probably targeted). Sales person came round Monday afternoon as agreed and the games started. Initial quote of £6,500, call to manager and knocked it down to £2,950. I told the guy I needed a I think about it and he (thankfully left). 2 hours later a call from his manager knocking the price down to £2450. Was told prices are higher because of the pandemic, other competitors don’t give the same FENSA protections (Complete and utter ****). Also and this was the best one, because they are publicly owned they will provide the best possible service, privately owned firms don’t care about the bad publicity (well apparently neither do these guys).

I had a local firm out yesterday and told their chap that these cowboys had been out, his first question was how long before you kicked them out? They’re quote was much better and thankfully is the one I’ve accepted.
  • Howdy - sorry to resurrect this and at the risk of being one of those One Post Wonders - has anyone actually had success in getting SafeStyle to install to their contract?

We had our backdoor replaced in February, we've had 7 people come out to scratch their chin and tell us we need a new door as the one fitted doesn't fit but still no new door. We've been passed from pillar to post. I have tried to raise a formal complaint but was fobbed off with another visit from another chin scratcher. I don't think a legal route is appropriate, as goods and services have been provided for payment. But it's like paying for a five star hotel and ending up in a tent, does that count as mis-selling? I'm not sure. Grateful for any advice on routes for action.

I got Safestyle to do my front door  and a few windows about 5 years ago. I was happy to with the installation and I've had no quality problems since but their hard sales is a nightmare. Took over 2 hours to get rid of the sales guy who went through the usual charade of calling his boss for a "special deal".  In the end I got them to do a deal for cash which I don't think the sales rep was too happy with as they are sure to get a commission for selling a finance package. I need some work doing on my conservatory soon (been putting it off for a long time) but I will certainly use a local firm

When my sister in law had them in for a quote they kept repeating "low monthly payments" and refused to tell her the APR "as you probably won't understand it". Probably wasn't the wisest thing to tell her as she's a chartered accountant so she kicked them out.

I'm surprised she had the patience to hold a conversation with the salesperson. There is much to be learnt from a decent sales professional, but my word there are some twerps out there. They must do better if they want our money.
No man is worth crawling on this earth.

So much to read, so little time.
  • ordered windows off Safestyle over 3 months ago. The night before fitting was told they can’t supply the product we require and what we signed a contract for . After further discussions agreed on a solution . Then they turn up wrong . I’ve had scaffolding outside my house for 3 months causing untold inconvenience . Then they tell me they can’t do the alternative . I’ve signed a contract paid my deposit and have got nowhere . Emailed the MD , no response , I’ve been told to go legal , any advice because this is a total embarrassment
  • Got issues with safe style too. Salesman came round on 3rd Aug and as of today 14th Oct and 4 attempts at arranging to fit the door, they have cancelled 3 times with no contact at all, I had to contact them to find out what’s going on. This time they said no fitters are available after they promised it would be done today as it was set for do not move appointment. LOL Yeah ok. Emailed the head office asking for money back. I am expecting issues from what I have read here.
These people are useless and don’t keep their promise. AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE. Very incompetent.
