OK, to get me up to speed!

What is the problem (in a nutshell), please.
Does it stop hackers, make one more secure, stop the authorities doing legitimate work (at least it is now by law I assume!), worry that someone might catch you doing something you shouldn't, satisfies paranoia...or what?

Whether we agree with the law change or not, what is the point of a VPN and should we trust them???
• If anyone is considering signing up to Nord VPN, it's possible to get a free 3 day trial to try it out. (I've just done this and am awaiting a reply from them.

Simply send an e-mail to:
Support@Nordvpn.com asking to be given a trial.

As with anything like this, it's probably best to e-mail from a disposable e-mail account as there is a good possibility of the e-mail address you use ending up on spam lists.
• A VPN is just part of a 'defence-in-depth' strategy to protect you from 'the man'.
