OS Daily Tuesday 29 November

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine

Morning, thanks for the thread Gers xx

I'm up earlier as I need to catch the earlier train today. My usual one was cancelled yesterday morning (as last Weds) so I ended up going to a different london destination and had to get two tube lines to work. Today I have a 9am meeting with my boss and I can't be late.

Dinner tonight will be SW sweet chilli chicken which DS1 will make. Dad staying with us for a bit to give sister some space. DD not doing well at all, was already struggling with school workload and pressure of being 15 and all that goes with it.

Hugs to all that need them, particularly Lainey and Hilstep xx
    Have a good day all

redruby I hope you're feeling better this morning x
Sorry to hear about Sparky :( RIP little lady xx

I woke up at 5am and couldn't move - I must've kicked the duvet off during the night, I was freezing and my leg and back had seized up. Had a bit of a panic and was wondering what the hell is wrong with me this time, why can't I just be normal for a while then managed to pull the duvet back up, when I'd warmed up I could move easily. Then I told myself off for being so dramatic, lol. It was -4°C and I'd left the window open in the bedroom. Lovely frost though :D

I've got a huge shop coming this morning. Just a normal amount of food but I ran out of toiletries and cleaning stuff all at the same time, plus I bought chocs, crackers and scented candles. Mr tru is taking a day off today, he's popping out for a couple of hours. By the time I've put the shopping away and had some lunch, he'll be home so that'll be my day over, lol.

I'm struggling to find the perfect place for the advent calendars. I'd just put them where they were last year, but I can't actually remember where that was :D

    Morning all.

Still dark though not as cold as expected.

Yesterday turned into a beautiful winter day, bright chilly sun. I did my list in good order, managed to remember my laser appointment in time to not miss it. I cooked up the lamb mince so it's there for the next couple of days.

Today I've got a volunteer drive to the local hospital to do again. The lady with dementia is being taken to see her paralysed husband twice a week and the driver closest to her has pulled out today. There and back for me is about 70 miles with an hour hanging about in between so I'll take a book to pass the time.

I hope everyone has a good Tuesday.

Seems very mild here, no frost or rain yet. I've made my morning tea in the living room, I have the kettle and micro in here and that's it. Good job the school dinners are good!

Kitchen all stripped out, it's really interesting to see how the room was originally, there is a chimney breast with 2 alcoves, am thinking of having the micro in one of the recesses but not sure if it will spoil the clean lines I'm after. Such decisions!

Work was so busy yesterday I didn't have time to think, did have a trip out with a colleague though, we were sent to buy a new christmas tree for the school, got a discount too!

Thinking of you all, take care. XX

    Morning everyone

Gers - thanks for starting us off x

Hugs to those that want/need them x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

Still dark here, very cold and frosty - I said yesterday morning it was mild - how wrong was I when I set foot outside the door! Winter has certainly arrived here, washing is being dried on the airer next to the radiator.

DH up and gone to work stupid early, DS1 gone to work and DS2 still in his pit, will wake him shortly.

Dinner last night was fish, chips/jacket potato, beans/veg, tonight will be breaded chicken pieces, with pasta in a mushroom sauce/creamy tomato sauce.

Work yesterday was the normal all or nothing - but enquiries now starting to come in regarding change to bin collection. This will build as the days go by, also loads of people just don't realise - people just don't read information that is sent out, as this is not taking effect until next April people just don't take any notice until it happens.

    Keep safe and well x

I'll need to scrape the car windscreen this morning, brrr.
My L&M has a cuppa, I have toast and a cuppa.
I had a delivery yesterday, I bought one of my 2yo DGD an interactive Freddy Teddy, it was £8 from Amazon instead of £40 as long as you spent £40, so I bought a few more birthday/Christmas presents at the same time.
It's time I jumped in the shower, have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

    Morning all,

Still full of cold here its really a full on one cant breath out of my nose at all and am starting to cough like a good'n now :( I am off to work as the boss is off today and I have to pick something up to take in but tbh im not sure how long I am going to last, I really don't want to pass this onto the clients.

Thanks for the wishes re Sparky, mum came round last night to see dd and she had a little cry, she was her constant companion and will be missed.

Great news though DD passed her driving test yesterday :j only OH and I knew when it was and she didn't want to tell anybody else, it could have been a horrible birthday had she failed but luckily she passed :jneed to start looking for a car now.

Not sure about dinner tonight will go and look in the freezer after this.

    Have good days all xx

Morning folks and thanks for the thread GERS. A frost here too but it doesn't feel quite as cold as they lead us to believe it would be.

I stuck to my intentions yesterday afternoon of making a start present wrapping. In fact I got so carried away the job carried on in the evening too. So now, 1001 gifts later, they are all piled up upstairs, with the DGDs hidden away from prying eyes on the top shelves of the wardrobe. I still have odd bits to buy and will wrap them as I get them.

This afternoon I might (or might not!) make a start on writing all the Xmas cards, then that job's done too.

I have got some hm smoked haddock fishcakes out to defrost for dinner which we will have with cheesy pasta and salad bits I think. Lunch might be some sort of omelettes as I seem to have an abundance of eggs.

Have a good day if you can and (((HUGS))) to LAINEY, COXY & HILSTEP, as well as the poorlies. Take care all xx

REDRUBY well done to your DD. Clever girl! x

Love to LaineyT and Hilstep and Coxy and I am sorry to hear about Sparky, must rush now xx

    Morning all,

Bright and frosty here, grass is white and crunchy.

Thoroughly enjoyed the FB film yesterday afternoon, the effects were very good and it was lovely to lose ourselves for an hour or two, did strike me that the more our world becomes stuffed full of technology the more folk want to know / believe in natural magic.
Over to see DM this morning, her eldest brother is coming over for a visit so will be nice to see my Uncle, will then bring her back here afterwards to stay over as am hoping can take her to the Wednesday service at her church tomorrow morning, it only lasts half an hour but know she has been missing her spiritual life. Her pagan daughter will skull at the back with a book :)
The first of the presents have now started arriving so guess I better sort through and see what paper etc is left over from last year, am sure picked some up in January and stashed it in the cupboard under the stairs.

Hope you feel better RR and :j to DD on passing her test.
Hugs to Coxy and thinking of Hillstep x

Have a good day everyone, take care folks x
