Period Pants

I've noticed these Pants called 'Dear Kate's' and another called 'Thinx'. I'd never heard of them before. They are designed for wearing during periods and I was thinking of trying them out but they're quite expensive. I don't think they're a replacement for pads/tampons but more as leakage protection or for lighter days.

Has anyone tried them before? I'd appreciate hearing anything good or bad about them.

Just looked at the Dear Kate website, they boast no plastic or latex (referring to using panty liners/sanitary towels I think) but are made of 74% nylon and 26% lycra! What do they think nylon and lycra are made of?

I wouldn't put all that synthetic fabric around my foof any time of the month!

I've used them for my teenage daughter who has learning difficulties and quite heavy periods, along with sanitary towels. She seemed to find them comfortable enough and they did stop leaks, but they weren't very durable and wore out a lot quicker than normal pants do.

It does sound seriously sweaty. And quite uncomfortable.

They are quite expensive to buy. Very expensive as a back up to other forms of sanitary protection. They can be used alone but would need changing as often as a pad, so unbelievably expensive!!! Good for those who maybe do gymnastics or dance as they cut down on the bulk in leotards etc.

I thought that's what most people did, half a dozen pairs of largies in the drawer that will stand a hot wash, seems we're out of touch!

Aren't sanitary towels made of synthetic materials too? I find them awful, sticky, itchy things. And any exercise whilst wearing one seems to cause a sort of nappy rash.

I was hoping these pants would be an improvement.

Leopards, sorry that made me giggle, damn autocorrect!

Yes, I can see they could have a use there, especially if you couldn't use tampons, but not for every day use.

Why not try a moon cup or washable sanitary cloths?

Seriously if getting a sweaty Betty happening, cotton is the way to go
