I wanted to start earning the £5 Halifax reward each month (Soon to decrease to £3).
A couple of weeks ago I set up 2 Tesco accounts:
an Instant Access Saving account,and
an Internet Saver account.

I got messages to say that I would have £5 transferred to each account on 25th Nov,then £10 monthly after that.

On 25th November,I found that £15 had gone into the Internet Saver account, but nothing into the Internet Access savings account.I wasn't too worried, because I thought they are still 2 DD's.

This afternoon I phoned Halifax to check that with the cash deposit I had made earlier in the month, and the 2 DD's ,I would be right to get the £5 in December.

The lady at Halifax said it looked a bit odd: she could see there were two DD's,but they are the same reference. She said she had never seen that before 017.gif.Suggested I phone Tesco to see what is going on.

Phoned Tesco,it seems no DD's were set up for the Internet Access account. Now the earliest date I can have a DD set up for is 8th Dec,so no way I can get the reward for November.

I am not sure what I did wrong, but apparently it was something!
Ba humbug!

Were you as confused when you set up the DDs as when you wrote this? :)

I managed to do something similar when setting up some Tesco DDs. Pulled one DD twice and the other once.

It never did it again though without me changing anything and as it pulled two different DDs it didn't matter.

When you complete the details for a DD it offers to set up the DD details on all accounts. Do you think you selected this option at least once? Can't think what else would cause it and never found out what I seemed to do wrong.

Always say no to this question. It will still go through the motions and appear to ignore your request but don't worry...just go to the other account and do the same again.

OP, you can view a list of which payments are coming in and when by clicking 'manage payments' (it's obvious when you think about it ;)). Suggest you do this when you correct your mistake, to make sure all is OK.

I did say no to the all accounts question and after the DD pulled twice, I checked, double checked and triple checked the payment settings. Couldn't see anything wrong, so who knows what happened and it never happened again.

Sometimes I think you just hit some sort of glitch or error.

For example, my mother applied for a Tesco account, selected no cheque book, she got a cheque book. Sister applied for Nationwide Flex Account, selected no overdraft, got an overdraft. Have no idea how they both happened as the answers were clear.

Thank you for taking the time to reply, everyone.
The Tesco operator tonight tells me he has set it up the DD for the 8th.When my [STRIKE]little tykes[/STRIKE] children have gone to bed later,I wil sit down and see if I can trace what I did wrong.
Who knows how I am going to manage when I get confident enough to try and cycle money through a couple of different accounts .

Well, I find the simple way is to set up SOs rather than move money manually online. I just leave a couple of days grace between. Has worked fine up until now but at one point I had to phone BOS to ask where and when money was moving- even I was getting confused!! ( I think 1£k cycles between 8? a/cs)

I opened a Tesco instant access saver as needed an extra DD payment, account opened ok but the DD didn't appear in the manage payments section nor as a DD on the account the money should have come from.

Assuming it hadn't setup I tried again to setup but got the error that it was already setup... gave it a couple more days and still nothing.. tried again this time changing the amount from £5 to £6 and appears to have setup ok.( DD showed up on the feeding account as well)

Next day having already received the welcome letter and pin, but expecting the card, I received a pile of letters, one letter was the card the other 5 were two more welcome letters, 2 more PIN numbers, and a non descript letter about a problem with a DD which I can only assume was about the DD I entered during account sign up.

I'm half expecting another 2 cards to drop through the door tomorrow

Edit: two more cards awaited my return from work.

    ?? Who knows...
  • Hi johnac. So far the only thing I have received is a "welcome to your Internet Saver Account" letter, with a copy to sign and return to them (they confirmed today that it has arrived).
Between the two accounts,I have no card or pin yet.
Might have to chase that up.
