Do they have a 4k source to use? Is it a genuine 4k or is the quality actually worse than 1080?

    Hi,

The only thing they'd use is a Fire Tv box. Other than regular tv use, they only use a standard old tv at the moment as their other one broke, so I thought I'd replace with a newer 4k Tv, but as above I dont know loads about them myself.

Maybe the only difference I can see is the 1 from laptops direct has a silver base/stand.

I remember seeing the model number from a deal on HUKD and someone asked whats the difference between the 6020 and 6000.

Is it a first gen fire TV box ?

I cant see much difference myself, didnt know If I was overlooking some tech specs which sets any of the 4k Tvs apart now? I see some come with HD channels, some dont, but most important really I guess for them is clearer/better picture quality.

    Don't

Samsung's 40 something inch offerings are prone to electronics problems. go Sony or Panny for that range instead.

The other thing is not to waste too much time on the 4k as there is little 4k content around anyway.

Get a set you're happy to use and view it instore. Rather than make a beeline for whatever comes in at your budget and has a "4k" label on it.

Get an 85" screen and sit 12 inches away from it and you get the benefit of 4k. :)

I think you will do better with a non 4k screen.

Its HD all over again. Parents got their HD TV and said wow the picture is amazing. Except they were watching analog BBC1, BBC2, Central, Channel 4 and 5. They couldnt even get freeview without a better antenna.

I would say to them almost daily, it is NOT HD :)

cheers for all the replies, appreciate them

My mum went into curry's today, and was looking at them, she just said, the picture was alot clearer. Perhaps that's is just circumstantial then, I have read the 4k is best on 50inch plus tv's and she ideally wanted a 40inch one, i cant win :D

    Appreciate the input.

She'll doubtless have been watching a 4K demo reel in the shop!

At home, she'll currently need to be a have a PayTV subscription to view any 4K broadcasts, or she'll have to fork out for an Ultra HD player and discs.

Having said all that, a new 4K set will still make the most of the normal Standard Definition and High Definition available on Freeview...
