Broadband activation delay after phone line activation.

I am about to change from standard broadband (PlusNet) to BT infinity - the village was upgraded last year. BT have said my phone will be activated on 13 December. Then they said they can't start the activation process on the broadband until the phone line has transferred, which will take 10-14 days. So I will be without any broadband for this period. Is this normal? It was fairly seamless when I last transferred (sky to PlusNet). My kids will not thank me, if there is no broadband over Christmas.

You should stay with what you have now until the Fibre goes live, so once the line transfers the broadband should still continue to work.
I just moved my parents from broadband to Fibre (albeit with the same provider Plusnet) and moved the phoneline to them as well. The Fibre had an activation date two weeks after it was ordered and the phone line two weeks after that.
There was no downtime on the original broadband service until it moved to Fibre and AFAIK there was no noticeable downtime on the phone either, the fibre may have dropped while the line was moved but that would have been about it.0 -
The fibre went live went live in the village last year. I'm not sure why the delay. I did try and phone Martin on Radio 5live today. Both researchers said they had had the same problem when changing to BT, one said that they used their neighbours wi-fi login, for the 2 weeks they were waiting. There has to be a quicker solution. As it's a package for the phone and the broadband, when will they charge the fees from?0
