it is about 8mtr, just called council they said, i need a license to do it and that license itself would cost £2000 then i would need a approved contractor to do it for me.

What are your thoughts on the price £1698 for 8mtr drop kerb ?

8m ? What are you driving ? Ours in Croydon was done with under 3m in the centre of the frontage allowing us to fit 2 cars on frontage from one drop. Our predecessor had the work completed before we moved in so not sure of costs but I'd expect, whether you like it or not, that you're in the ballpark and now that you've alerted them to your intentions they'll keep an eye on things to see if you do the work.

Out of interest is it just crossing a pavement or a grass verge as well ?

my lads is perhaps 8 metres now as its almost the full width of the house so is wider than a double driveway as the whole front has been "resin bound stoned" and his previous dropped kerb was due to the drive being on one side of the house only , but its now widened and extended too

he already had a standard 5 kerb "dropped kerb" so its been extended and that was what was paid for , the previous owner must have had the kerb dropped when prices were a lot lower than they are today

nothing wrong with wanting 8 or 9 kerbs as its what my lad and his next door neighbour both wanted due to the driveways being redone , but the neighbour had no dropped kerb at all and wouldnt pay for 8 or 9 or 10 stones to be done

my lad stilll thought it was a lot of money to pay for 3 kerbs to be done , but he was lucky to already have a standard dropped kerb in place
