Very expensive Flight ticket spelling error

BA (who are the flight provider) say that we shouldn't have any issues checking in, but they cannot guarantee that a security official will not stop him from flying due to the spelling inaccuracy (this is if they spot it - I spelt Adrain not Adrian). I just don't know if it is worth the risk :'(
That's slightly incorrect information. They'll be able to check in online, but when it comes to international travel the name on the ticket must match exactly with the name on the passport. You'll be prevented from travel at bag-drop, or passport check prior to reaching security.
BA phone line staff are well known for giving out incorrect information, and you'll have no come-back when you are denied travel.Legal team on standby0 -

I have a middle name on my passport and travel internationally a few times a year (including with BA) I never have a middle name on my flight ticket and I have never had issues at bag drop or passport check even though my ticket and passport do not fully match, the first and last name are correct0 -
I'd risk it on a middle name.
My daughter was ticketted as Florence Bucket, but changed her name (and passport) to Florence Teacup-Bucket before flying. BA were happy that it was close enough and we had no problems.0 -

BA don't ticket with middle names.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -
Just reread the thread. Totally missed the post on it being an error with a middle name.Legal team on standby0

It's only at the desk for check in or bag drop that the passport is compared to the name on the booking, by BA staff in this case. Passport is not shown at the security check, and at the boarding gate it is compared to the boarding pass which shows no middle name. There's practically no chance that BA staff will make any issue of such a minor discrepancy, even at Heathrow, so it's not worth paying to correct it.Evolution, not revolution0

That may be the case when booking online with BA and the option isnt available but as an agent booking through a GDS you can put as many names as you like up to however many letters the airline accepts for ticketing. BA is 49 including / and space AA is only 29.
In some case you have to remove names that are on the passport to get the ticket issued as with some latin american names.0
