:j looking to go for 4 days start of october, 2 a (poss 3) 2 kids. Any good guesthouses/bb you can recommend, there are just too many to choose from..also can anyone tell me is 1 day enough for the pleasure beach, apart from the white knuckle rides we will be doing just about everything else. Their website is quoting us £68.50 for the day for wristbands, and they say that is a special offer. Are we better off buying these wristbands or just paying direct at each thing we fancy doing? any other tips for the cheapest poss way of spending 4 days in blackpool would be much appreciated. thankyou x my x

if you have a clubcard, i think you can get the wristbands on the deals.0

i have been looking on the websites and it seems that everywhere charges a fortune for their tickets. do u know if we are better off buying tickets in advance for as many places as we can i.e. pleasure beach, tower, zoo, ripleys etc. i think i would prefer to do this, then we would know what money (errr none lol) we would have left to spend when we get there. I am gonna search for discount vouchers/codes for all of these, if anyone knows of any that would be great. we are only planning 4 days so if any of these attractions arent really worth the money pls let me know and save me a small fortune....lol....thanx again x my x
ps.. still confused re pleasure beach, 1 day? or 2? what would you recommend - as i said in first post no white knuckle but def the rest, their website gives option of either ride ticket or shows? does the ride ticket then include everything but the shows?0 -
I would reccomend going for wristbands. The only time tickets are better value is during the summer months when you spend hours queueing up for rides.
Most rides cost 2/3 tickets each (where 1 ticket = £1) where as some rides can cost as much as 5 tickets so you can easily make up the cost of a wristband. During october 1 day will be easily enough to do everything, especially as you are staying clear of the whiteknuckles.
Wristbands can also be bought from lastminute.com and a few other similar website I think, not sure if its any different to blackpools own pre order wristbands.0 -
The cheapest possible way of spending 4 days in Blackpool is to stay at home !! It must be the most dumpiest place I have ever visited and to go in cold rainy October you must be insane.0

It sounds like you have not been to Blackpool before judging from your post!
You won't need more than a Day for the pleasure beach!
Blackpool is a laugh if you dont go with any preconceptions that it is a "high Class" resort!
Spend a day at the pleasure beach, another down at the bottom end near the tower etc, and then judge the other days depending on what you like!
Oh and id give the zoo a miss, its not that good!
have a great time, and watch out for stag and hen do's!!!!!!0 -
wow guys i see that the last 2 post-ers are def not so keen on good old blackpool then?? actually i have been before, but was years ago b4 i had ever thought about having kids myself. Sorry but I strongly disagree with this comment. I loved Blackpool Zoo when we were there and so did my Daughter, we had a brilliant day there.
If you collect Tesco coupons you can get admittance free to the zoo, you can also get Sealife Centre admissions (which we did) so it cuts the cost right down. You can also get pleasure beach vouchers so its a big saving.
Blackpool is a place were you will either love it or hate it and im a lover of it. If you go onto www.visitblackpool.com you can request a brochure and its full of info and has lots of hotels/flats registered so it might give you a better idea. I am currently sending emails to check availibility in hotels and have had quite a few which are full for the school half term week.0 -
We've just returned from a few days in Blackpool and still enjoy it after going there for 30 years (went for our honeymoon).
Yes some parts of Blackpool have seen better days but there is still a lot to do and enjoy there.
When we take the kids they love the Tower and can spend all day in there easily. They go in jungle jims, to the top of the tower, to the lunchtime show and to the circus etc. You do need to plan to ensure you fit it all in.
We always seem to get BOGOF tickets off the internet, it's just a matter of searching for them.
We stayed at the Hilton Hotel as we paid for it with Tesco deals. We think it's a lovely hotel and although it was £99 per night we got it for free, great. Another place we have stayed in the past is at Cala Gran in a caravan with the Sun £9.50 holidays. It is only a 10/15 minute drive from Blackpool and has a lovely indoor swimming pool for the kids if it's raining.
Enjoy yourselves, I find kids love Blackpool.0 -
If you're going in October don't forget the illuminations!!!! :j You can spend a whole day/evening just walking up and down the promenade and travelling on trams to view these

Not to mention the numerous street stalls that will readily part you from your money along the way lol
“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0 -
Its not that i don't like Blackpool! Far from it actually! I've been once a year for about the last 22 years and i love it! I was just making the point that it (like most places) has its "dodgy" areas! For Kids its great and they will love it! If you plan on staying in a B&B there is no where in particular i would recommend but get there early on and get walking round and knocking on them doors! Try and find one near to where you think you will spend most of your time! For Hotels the Hilton is nice (if not a little bit out of the way - its at the other end from the Pleasure beach!). One thing i would say is take your kids to Coral Island and then after onto one of the piers! Plus with the Lights as well, they should have a top time!
Blackpool is great, its just not everyones cup of tea!0
