Return request - Buyer not responded back
Nesty
On EBAY I sent a small jewellery box of my partner’s she wanted selling & it sold via EBAY GSP (global shipping programme).
Buyer received it ok.
The foreign buyer started a EBAY return case a few days after receiving it (probably knowing full well you can’t return via GSP), citing the item had a broken lid wasn’t closing properly.
I emailed him straight back on 11th November asking I want to see photos of the damage and non lid closure before I action any return. The buyer has not responded.
I am assuming there is nothing actually wrong with the item. I have thrown a curve ball to him, as he probably assuming I would refund straight away no quibble.
I haven’t actioned the return.
How many days do I have to wait before automatic closure (assuming he doesn’t escalate it further)?

It takes a while for a return to "close out" if the buyer doesn't come back to it....
I'm a business seller so I'm not sure if it takes longer for me (thank a private seller), but if memory serves me correctly, it's at least 2 months.
The best thing you can do here is sit tight until it times out. No point in rocking the boat by contacting the buyer or ebay regarding this.0 -
Many thanks for the reply.
I am just staying slient, as I know if I remind the buyer again (hoping they given up) anything which gets escalated to EBAY the buyer alwys wins!0 -
I am no expert but as a buyer of something using the GSP from the USA that arrived damaged the seller had no more to do with it - and I mean that in a polite way as the seller was helpful, as the GSP includes insurance.
I was under the impression that as a seller your responsibility ended for lost or damaged products once the item reached the local GSP postal location.
your buyer needs to claim back through ebay or paypal, in my case I claimed via paypal and it went smoothly.0 -
If the buyer provides requested photos of the damage, then sure I'll do something about it.
However, I get the feeling it arrived in pefect order and he wants a free item.
Naturally, I have asked for photos. He unlikely to find any damaged stock photos of this item on the internet to fake.
Maybe now he is not going to make a deal of it?
Next week is 30 days up after he opened the dispute if that is the open period? Just have to wait and see I suppose?0 -
The buyer opened the dispute on 9/11/16.
I make today (Friday) the 30th day. I haven't heard anything from him since. So surely the case should be closed in my favour?
What do I do now. Wait for it to be automatically closed, or do I ask EBAY to close it.
Though I heard anything you raise to EBAY they will close it in the buyers favour?0 -
I'd just sit tight, you don't want to rock the boat.0

Many thanks.
Good and bad news.
I got the money refunded to me earlier. However, as soon as I did the buyer soon after left unwarranted Negative feedback.
First one in over 850 feedback, so hopefully people won't take any notice for future sales!0 -
Contact CS and you will get the negative feedback removed0
-
Yup, agree with that. Tell us how you got on.I am a cow so cannot speak Bullshine but I do recognise its smell when I come upon it.0

Basically reported it to EBAY about the negative feedback.
Usual thing they don't want to get involved, so no Negative feedback removal, but quite happy to collect their fees on the matter!0
