Are Currys Sim-free iPhones truly sim-free?

-
Nope, not true.
An iPhone bought sim free from CarPhoneWarehouse will definitely lock to the first SIM card inserted.
The warning is at the bottom of every page relating to sim free iPhone on the CPW website.
It looks like this:
https://www.carphonewarehouse.com/apple/iphone-6s.html#!colour=gold&capacity=32GB&dealType=sf
Network supplied stock, for example from EE or Vodafone is locked to the network by Apple and will only accept the applicable sim, no matter what other sim you might insert first.
Locking due to iCloud or Find my iPhone has got absolutely nothing to do with sim lock on iPhones...
Contradictory and confused:
First you say that the iphone will "definitely lock to the first SIM card inserted" but your quote says that "SIM free iPhones can only be used with a UK-network SIM card, and will not accept foreign SIM cards".
So does that mean that Carphone Warehouse in fact sell and provide sim-free iphones? Or not? Or is it confirmation that a U.K. iPhone can only be used with U.K. network sim cards? In the latter case, reasonable I'd say.
Where did I say the Find My iPhone locking is a sim lock?
As I said previously, if you buy an iPhone from a network and/or as part of a tariff deal you can expect it to be locked to that network. If you buy a sim free iPhone and it locks to the first network then return it for refund or replacement. In that case it's not sim free.
Why is my previous post not true? As I said, Apple save money by not providing phones dedicated to certain networks and retailers by locking to the network of the first sim inserted. The previous posts confirm that.
lastly, this topic is as I said, very old now: By this time it should be common knowledge that to get a sim-free iPhone you should buy it direct from Apple and pay the full price. That's not to say though that iPhones which should be cheaper from a third-party retailer are actually cheaper: When I bought my iPhone SE direct from Apple it was £20 cheaper than the price charged by Argos!0 -

It's not that confusing, it will lock to the first sim inserted, that has to be a UK network sim as it won't activate with anything but a UK network sim. The UK only sim use is also unique to iPhones bought at CPW.Where did I say the Find My iPhone locking is a sim lock?
In your previous post, you tried to muddy the waters by referencing Find my iPhone locking in a conversation about sim locking, where you repeatedly just said "locking", don't try and squirm out now...As I said previously, if you buy an iPhone from a network and/or as part of a tariff deal you can expect it to be locked to that network. Go argue with CPW, they have argued the point for years that sim free just means sold without a sim, they have tricked many buyers over the years who have ended up with locked phones. Why is my previous post not true? Go back and read what you said, and then cross reference the replies to each quoted point and you'll see where you went wrong.====0 -

This discussion is about Currys but you introduced Carphone Warehouse. So are you yourself trying to muddy the waters?Go argue with CPW, they have argued the point for years that sim free just means sold without a sim, they have tricked many buyers over the years who have ended up with locked phones.0 -

Only to the easily confused. This discussion is about Currys but you introduced Carphone Warehouse. So are you yourself trying to muddy the waters?
Sigh....
CPW was first mentioned in post #4. Don't you actually read threads before chucking your 'opinion' in?
Does it look like my username on post #4?So don't buy from Carphone Warehouse. Simple!
Where did I say I bought anything from CPW? Are you confusing your thoughts of what you think has been said with facts again?====0 -
