Water meter problems

I know this sounds really stupid, but I am literally stuck and don't know what to do! I have just bought my first flat, got the keys 5 days ago and there are 4 in the block, so firstly, I'm not 100% sure on which one is mine because they're not numbered, and also the one I think it would be has 3 MASSIVE spiders in there and it's so far down that I don't even think I could reach anyway! (there is a polysteirene block covering it), so as yet, I have not been able to give southern water the reading (if that's even what you do) and I'm worried they will fine me or stop the water or something!! Please help!! TIA xx

Get a torch , open the lids of the meters and get someone to turn the taps on/off while you are looking you will see the meter start/stop spinning that will be yours , communicate with mobile phones :)

If the meters are a bit dirty get a stick and tape a paint brush on the end to clean them

Register with the supplier for an account and provide an opening read.

If the the previous owner/tenant didn't read it correctly or even at all then you could end up paying their water charges.

It needs to be read as soon as possible and you need to set up your own account with the water company using your own readings to make sure that you only pay for the water that you use.

A good opportunity to get to know your neighbours.

Invite them around for coffee and play a game of turning taps on and off.

They may be having the same problems as yourself.
Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill

Ask the supplier for your meters serial number.
