Hi folks - I saw the MIL and the seal on her card was still moist when it was handed over! :rotfl:Unfortunately I couldn't get hold of a really glittery card but I hadn't read the verse on the one I had bought her. Her face looked odd when she read it and then she laughed - apparently it said something weird like - you've cleaned your house and put up the tree....blah blah blah. Fortunately she is a tidy person but what if she hadn't!!! That would have looked so odd and a tiny bit rude but she saw the funny side. Note to self - must remember to read verses before I buy cards....
Hi Scott - sadly I only visited Co Durham. I love it up there and I did live up there for 18 months plus a few years ago. It was in Darlington and my friend still lives there. I often wish I still lived there, everyone is so friendly. How are your surveys going today after a rare day off yesterday?!!! I had an odd email from PopulusLive querying one of the responses on a recent survey - think they were trying to catch me out, but I always answer honestly so not sure what it was about. Immediately I answered it I must have passed as they sent me another email inviting me to do another survey but I didn't qualify for that one. Pah!
Thanks Purple for popping by and hello Thistle - long time no hear!! Great news on the mystery shop and busking. I once did a phone call mystery shop but had to record myself doing it - I just got flustered. Very odd hearing yourself when you play it back!
I did promise a story on the CLL so here goes. Please note that no individual was harmed in anyway and this person really does exist!!!
Ok - so it was a really busy day at work. Lots of governors in and VERY IMPORTANT PEOPLE, plus bosses of bosses, and bosses of bosses' bosses.... So everyone was expected to behave. Sadly no one told the CLL. Our department were hosting quite a lot of the events going on in school that day so we were really busy. I was stood by a desk doing something and before I knew it had been bustled out of the way by the CLL's body so that she could be where I was. This is normal behaviour. If her physical presence doesn't get you to shift then she will use physical force and then maybe a trolley or something.
We have mobile workstations that we use around the school and next I was doing something EXTREMELY IMPORTANT on one of them...I was making tea. I was just mid-pour from the kettle when suddenly the workstation started to move forward. The CLL wanted to get past so instead of the usual excuse me or even pushing it out of the way, she grabbed hold of it and moved it along with her so she could get past. Because I am incredibly stubborn I was determined to carry on pouring the tea mid move.
And finally a colleague of ours wanted to get in a cupboard underneath where the CLL was later on (she was making tea....we drink much tea). Colleague said excuse me and CLL moved to one side. However CLL does not like being asked to move, or to be stopped what she is doing so she carried on. She filled a cup full to the brim of hot water and then deliberately passed it over colleague's head to the desk behind, just to make a point. She was about to do it again when I told her to pack it in and her response - oh I didn't see you there.... She is a Witch with a capital B.
And now I have to go as the OH has come home early and I need to scarper. xxLBM Jul 16 £26,823.83, Nov 16 £27,961.98, Dec 16 £26,977.66, Jan 17 £26,884.76

CLL needs to meet with a sticky end. Silly woman. Personally I'd say that move with her moving the trolley while you were pouring from the kettle should have been reported - what if the water had ended up all over your feet?
In case it helps in the future HB do some truly evil glittery cards with glitter that positively launches itself off all over the recipient. And best of all they do them from about 29p! :rotfl:
Darn it - you've also reminded me of something - I had slippers on my Christmas list and sure enough Mum came up trumps with a rather lovely snuggly pink pair! :T of course I simply binned the old falling apart and thoroughly lifeless pair didn't I - when what I should have done was put them on ebay! Doh! Facepalm! :rotfl::rotfl: I may have shed some light on why they sell though - apparently Mum & Dad had the very devil of a job finding a pair for me - it seems slippers are less than the "in thing" at the moment! :rotfl:🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Oh dear, CLL sounds dreadful. What would have happened if your colleague had been burned? She doesn't seem to be thinking straight and has no concern for others.
At least you won't have to deal with her for a little while!
I've signed up to more surveys / shops but not heard anything yet. Hopefully there will be some work available in the new year. I may have to start wearing my slippers outdoors as shoes to wear them out and mess them up earlier to earn a bit extra!0 -
Just had to do it didn't I. Search on eBay for well worn slippers brings up the most disgusting DIRTY very well worn excuse for a pair of slippers.....with a bid for £5! Dig out those slippers from the bin EH! Ahem unless of course these are yours EH? :rotfl:LBM Jul 16 £26,823.83, Nov 16 £27,961.98, Dec 16 £26,977.66, Jan 17 £26,884.76

Hi Smolly re the thirsty thing try buying some cranberry juice and milk thistle tabs from Holland and Barrett it could be a kidney/liver issue perhaps.
re populus live you have too be so careful i tend too find there kickout rate is quite bad. I am just not hammering the surveys as much as i was at work they are doing my head in and we are slowly getting busier and busier during the night at work.Cashback Earnings YTD £46.04 Survey Earnings YTD £182.66

Hi Misty
Thank you so much - I did have a lovely Christmas and I hope you did too, plus everyone else who reads my ramblings! Not been on here for a little while - all has been absolutely fine. Everyone has been behaving themselves and I actually quite enjoyed Christmas despite being quite sure I wouldn't. I have loved cooking and looking after everyone and I do feel a little exhausted but in a happy way. Today was the first day it was just me and the DS as the OH had returned to work. I told him he could stay in his PJ's and we played board games and had lots of cuddles.
And I have become the Queen of Decluttering! I cannot tell you how therapeutic it is. No more trying to sell daft little things on 3Bay for a few pennies here and there. I have found a charity shop with a BIG showroom and have been dumping my stuff there in VERY LARGE BAGS on a very frequent basis. Now I would have preferred to use a few different charities but this is easiest for me, and if I start to overthink this decluttering thing I will probably start hanging onto stuff as I have done for the last 40 odd years.
I will still try to sell stuff but need to organise my time much better next year.
Anyway I will leave that here for now - I may not get chance to come back on here much before New Year as I have rather rashly invited Mum back for a few days!
And if I don't get back on before 2017 then I wish everyone on here a very Happy and Prosperous Debt Busting New Year! xxxLBM Jul 16 £26,823.83, Nov 16 £27,961.98, Dec 16 £26,977.66, Jan 17 £26,884.76

I'm glad to hear that things are going well! The decluttering sounds great - it gets addictive! I've found I do it in fits and starts - once I'm going I want to get rid of everything, but if something stops me (like Xmas!) then I lose the drive and need to kick myself to start again. I'm sitting here in a no-longer tidy and clutter free house thinking I'm not going to do anything about it until the new year. Christmas took it's toll and my family seem incapable of putting anything away on their own, I'm so tired of nagging them especially when they ignore everything I say. I'm not going to knock myself out when I could be sitting down reading a good book! Actually I'm starting to plan and budget for the new year, but I like the thought of reading during the day, it seems so decadent!
I hope you have a happy new year and things go well with your mum!0 -
Happy New Year ladies!
Glad to hear that Christmas ticked all your boxes Smolly - and WELL DONE on finding the charity shop that suits to dispose of all the stuff that it's not worth your time to 3bay - I think it's such a big step for you to have reached the point where you're effectively acknowledging that your time does have value! :T
Pleased to say my slippers made it safely from rubbish bin to dustman, so no risk of anyone finding them on any internet auctions sites! :rotfl:
Hope NY with your Mum went as smoothly as everything else seemed to have done over the holidays - and that you're not now in fact on the run having hidden both her and Mr S under the patio at some stage in the past week...🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡
