HDMI lead - signal drop off

It should be as simple as right clicking the speaker icon in the system tray, select playback devices then selecting your TV from the list. Some TVs may require the HDMI lead to be plugged into a port that is ARC (Audio Return Channel) enabled.0

It should be but my TV/DHMI sound option was missing. It was hidden for some odd reason. It should have been there because we had it linked a month or so before.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
Many thanks to everyone who replied. The computer that I'm trying to connect has a HDD that is pretty full so the Graphics drivers killing the desktop has spurred me into getting a newer and bigger hard drive.
Just to note...
I'm using an old Optiplex 755 with a 5450X Graphics card. I have a monitor on the DVI port and the TV on the HDMI port. This set up is probably more than the graphics card can handle.
My original plan was to have the computer underneath the TV but I had to stand too close to the TV to use the mouse and I had no where to put the Keyboard. I'm going back to this plan with the addition of a Wireless keyboard and mouse. This should work much better.

I just read the TV's manual. Only HDMI socket two has ARC listed next to it. That should cure the sound problem.

ARC is Audio Return Channel - which allows the audio to travel OUT of the TV (back to, for example, an AV amp or soundbar). This sound is going in the other direction to what you're after (IN to the TV) so that's not the solution - computer settings seem to be the right solution.0

Correct! I have a non-Smart TV with an ARC socket. This will connect fine to my old Panasonic Hdd/DVD recorder, but not to the PC. I haven't bothered chasing this up, as I moved the desktop to another room, connecting a monitor via a TV tuner card in the PC as another TV. I stream TV around the house via a NAS box.I think this job really needs
a much bigger hammer.
