  • It didn't really need a great deal of choosing due to George being my middle name and Michael my family name.
Now, if only I had his money as well!

You don't want his driving skills.

I have a similar problem stopping in a major road waiting for the exit to a Yellow box to open up at a terrible junction on the A34 nr Manchester
If you want to turn right just after this junction...

You often need to stop dead in the right hand lane of a very major two lane artery road into Manchester before a third right hand turn lane opens up ahead and shows clear (this is probably30 metres ahead?)

At busy times you have to stop and hold up all the traffic going into Manchester and endure the inevitable horn blasting of cars going straight on - all due to the double yellow box infront of you that turns into a yellow box in the right turn lane 30metres further on which you cannot enter.
  • Throwing my two penny's worth in: You can enter a yellow box and stop within it if you are turning right and your exit road is clear but you are prevented from turning by oncoming traffic.

    Rule 174
Box junctions. These have criss-cross yellow lines painted on the road (see ‘Road markings’). You MUST NOT enter the box until your exit road or lane is clear. However, you may enter the box and wait when you want to turn right, and are only stopped from doing so by oncoming traffic, or by other vehicles waiting to turn right

    Rule 174

That doesn't apply to the op.

I did not know that - (or maybe I did when I was learning to drive in 1985 and have since forgot!)

My worry would be that something would jam up the road I am turning into and leave me stuck - Yellow boxes serve a purpose but I get really nervous approaching them at busy times.
