A ten year guarantee is only as good as the fine print allows - which means it is often effectively useless.

A new pipe - plastic or otherwise - ought to last much longer... so long as the job is done well.

However (not recently refreshed myself on the whole thread), has the cause been fully sorted, or is the issue likely to reoccur?

The replacement pipe will only be for the defective part and if I go for that option there will be a few joints between the 2 man holes.

I am not sure about the cause. ground movement/roots. There was a big tree about 5m from the drains but it's no longer there and I got the stump removed recently. However there are other small tress/shrubs/ivy right next to it in the neighbours garden.

As long as it's laid properly pipe joints aren't a problem.
