Thank you. I Ann collating all my information and escalating the complaint to the FOS. £200 doesn't even cover for all the time and call charges I've spent ringing them about this for the last 2 and 1/2 years.I have just read your thread and am absolutely furious on your behalf that you have been treated this way. It is not ok in ny way and someone at Halifax needs to take responsibility for this situation.
Previous posters have made good suggestions about how to proceed and I do hope you keep going with your complaints against them. It will be worth it in the end, just demoralising to have to do it. But persevere and keep us all informed about how you get on.
Best of luck.TWBM 2010: 1) LCD TV 2)Hamper 3)Cash

 i'm angry for you! please come back and fill us in on how you get on - their complaints department seems completely out of order to belittle you like that! of course you would have looked into consolidation in order to help your financial situation, given they're charging you more interest than you have paid off. and without providing statements, they have broken their side of the agreement so the least they could have done is offered to refund the interest for that period.CCCC #33: £42/£240

Thanks. I'm Just hoping the FOS agree with you. It's over £12k in interest and fees though, so I don't think halifax are going to give in easily.TWBM 2010: 1) LCD TV 2)Hamper 3)Cash

Just had another look through the bundle of paperwork and realised that statements pre 2014 showed no APR (I'm pretty sure it was 18.9) but then in Feb 2014 its showing on the statements as 29.9. Difficult for me to say when my APR was raised as none of my paperwork prior to this shows figures (my initial paperwork showed 0% then market rate) surely this isn't normal or acceptable. Wondering if I should add this to my case as additional info as they don't seem to have informed me of APR change?TWBM 2010: 1) LCD TV 2)Hamper 3)Cash

Yep - I'd add that in too. I really can't see anything other than a ruling in your favour here. One thing that strikes me, is that they say that seeing statements wouldn't have made any difference - but a) they have no basis on which to make that judgement and b) it would certainly have made one very major difference - you would have had the ability to make an informed decision on how to proceed with payments to the account!

I've heard back from the FOS who have sided with Halifax and said I've misunderstood the rule and the statements would always accrue interest even if I didn't receive them. They have also said theinimum charge was always at least £5 more than the interest but I have copies of statements that show that this isn't true. I will discuss this with them, but feel they are just going to back halifax no matter what evidence I produce.

It also seems strange to me that the above article shows banks were forced to pay back interest to people who did not have all the information on their statements and yet I'm due £200 compensation for 31 months with no statements at all.TWBM 2010: 1) LCD TV 2)Hamper 3)Cash

Hi, I do actually work for Halifax, but BT's/DCP payments so I wouldn't know too much about this, but when you ring up who do you speak to? collections? if so you could ask them to take some of the interest off, as it can be done/allowed, but that is pretty ridiculous that you've been paying £330 a month and only 2k has cleared in 5 years, ideally you should of checked the interest rate and whatever years ago though.0
