Well done
Hire car - use Autoreisen, Plus Car or CiCar or Cabera Medina
Stay away from most of the others

Temps have always been mid twenties for us at Christams
The kids will love Siam Park if your budget stretches to itChange is inevitable, except from a vending machine.0 -
It certainly won't be freezing in Tenerife - the climate is fairly constant through the year. Neither will it have the horrible Florida humidity.don't promise what you cant deliver. You know she/he is expecting Florida and I doubt a few days in Spain when its freezing will deliver.
Only got yourself to blame....
I guess you thought they would fail.
However children could feel short-changed by the lack of huge theme parks.0 -
Hi,
I promised my daughter that I would take her to Florida/ abroad if she cleared her grammar school tests (and she did).
I hope that you all (especially daughter) enjoy the Canaries. However, promising a big reward for getting into Grammar school is terrible parenting: success in the tests depends on chance, raw IQ and the quality of the private tutors you employ rather than the effort the child makes, and raising the stakes for what is already a frightening experience can raise stress levels and actually make the child perform worse than would otherwise have been the case.
Smart of you to say Florida but clarify that you really meant "abroad": big difference! And of course "abroad" could also include Finland or a traditional Winter Holiday...0 -

The kid has done well.
Rewarding success is good.0 -
hire car - another vote for AutoReisen, used them several times, no messing or hidden costs or fuel/damage scams. The questions that get the best answers are the questions that give most detail....0

The aim of this thread was to find travel deals for next month, not lessons on parenting. Please troll elsewhere.
I am sure we all tend to work harder towards our challenges should the fruits be visible at the other end. You just have to figure out what drives that person.
I will try to advise on here when we go to Florida. Promise would be kept, (Florida was not promised for Dec 2016).
I hope they don't feel short changed with Loro Parque, Siam Park, beaches, volcanoes, bike tours, dolphins and all. We may not have enough time to enjoy it all and might have to make another trip one day!!0 -

Hardly trolling!
It is indeed helpful to offer a reward to motivate hard work: I recall a friend who rewarded his son for each hour spent working to prepare for the 11 plus tests. It is not such a good idea to make the reward conditional on something that is effectively a lottery: a child who works really hard and then does not get in to grammar school will already be depressed, and missing out on the promised reward as well is likely to discourage any effort for a worthwhile goal in future.0 -
Looks like fun on Tenerife http://siampark.net/index.php/en/Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0

This is perfect trolling as you won't give up!
You seem to be contradicting yourself in your argument.
Maybe this will help: Even if my daughter failed, I would have still done the same (reward) for her and introspected what we could do to improve in future.
But I think you will not understand if you call grammar schools lottery! That is disrespectful to all the kids/ parents who work so hard towards the system in place.0 -
With respect, Voyager2002's opinion is just as valid as yours whether you agree with it or not. Agree to disagree. Please do not quote spam as this enables it to 'live on' once the spam post is removed.
