Travel abroad during christmas break 2016

Hi,
We are parents of 2 kids aged 10 and 6.
This thread is kind of last minute cry for advice/ help to travel during the Christmas break from 22nd Dec 2016 to 2nd Jan 2018.
I promised my daughter that I would take her to Florida/ abroad if she cleared her grammar school tests (and she did).
However, all flights seem too expensive at the moment, even to Nordic countries (cold) and Italy/ Spain (warm areas).
We did a France-Belgium-Holland trip by car in April, so I am even willing to drive.
But ferry from UK to Spain (any area other than France) is too expensive at this time.
Can someone please advise of any economic options that I have at the moment? We will do anything, go anywhere.
Please pass me some ideas.
Thanks.

What's too expensive?
Flights to the Canaries should be possible for ~£150pp rtn
Accommodation maybe not soChange is inevitable, except from a vending machine.0 -
Not really. Flights start from around £250 to Canary islands for that time.
Which is a lot compared to how much they normally sell for!0 -
Easyjet from MAN or NCL to TFS are not much more than £100pp rtn going out before Christmas and coming back a couple of days after

I was planning to go to Mallorca but the location I wanted to stay was too expensive. I then found two good options on Travelzoo. One was room only which can work out a bit too dear and the other was with half board which I opted for. Some packages were excellent whilst some needed to be closely looked at. There are some that involved train travel to a different airport (which was included in the price) and the whole package was cheaper than our our original plan. Think differently and with the two children you can make that extra bit of travelling part of the adventure / holiday. Good hunting.0

Look at easyJet and Flybe flights from Southend airport.
Demand gets in the way of cheap.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0 -
don't promise what you cant deliver. You know she/he is expecting Florida and I doubt a few days in Spain when its freezing will deliver.
Only got yourself to blame....
I guess you thought they would fail.0 -

Thanks to all, esp Moto2.
Booked MAN to Tenerife for ~£80pp for 7 days from Xmas.
Avg temp are over 20 there with loads of things for kids, so should be OK I think.
Thinking of getting an apartment (airbnb) and a hire car now.
Baza52, She has been to States several times to as far as Hawaii (all these trips were without any promises).
Taking them to India next Easter and Florida is sure on cards for next summer holidays as duchy advised.0
