Advice on vodafone

I have a vodafone contract which is about 8 months old and have moved into a property with poor signal indoors. It shows 4g then jumps to H and then my calls end. My mobile Internet is not too bad.

I spoke to vodafone who said somebody will call me back to discuss getting a sure signal box. Nobody called and my calls are dropping continuously so I called back.

The advisor got me to switch my settings to 2g only but I will have to keep switching it over when I go out and want to use Internet. I now show 2 bars 2g.

I said I wasn't happy about keep switching the settings and would prefer a sure signal box. She said it wasn't suitable in my circumstances.

Am I being told porkies??

Many thanks

Xx

2 minutes on google shows that Vodafone sell the Sure Signal box, so if they don't want to give you one you'll have to buy one if you want one.

  • I know they are sold and I am happy to buy one if that's the answer but the advisor specifically said it would not solve my problem, hence the question.

Well it's meant to broadcast a 3G signal using your broadband (min. requirement is 1 meg down/upload speed according to their website).

Not sure why you were told you it wouldn't solve your problem.

    What's your handset/tariff?

You need to plug a Suresignal into a broadband router. So if you've got broadband at home you'll be fine.

However, they are not a panacea for everything. All I would say is they work OK ish. You'll still get the odd dropped call but they make the best of a bad job.
  • Many thanks to the posters who answered my questions.

My handset is a Samsung s7 and I am on Vodafone unlimited calls texts and 20gb which is not being used at the moment due to the signal.

I have 52mb fibre BB so no issues there.

Is it just me or is their suggestion of keep switching to 2g when I'm in the house not ideal? It's already driving me mad. I wouldn't have an S7 if I didn't want goings to work easily. I get out of the house and realise things are not working then have to faff switching back to 4g. Even the 2g is dropping occasional calls.

I know it is not Vodafones fault I have moved but my contract will be up in a couple of months. If there was a workaround I would stay with them. I think RE is slightly stronger signal, 3 is really poor so not a great choice unfortunately. On the positive side I love my new home :)

    Thanks again

Is your account/S7 set up for WiFi Calling at all?

    See: http://www.vodafone.co.uk/explore/network/network-improvements/wi-fi-calling/

One possible option re: Mobile Data. When you're on your home screen slide down from the top and you'll see some settings short cuts. Tap the one for Mobile Data (I think it's green in colour when activated) and tap it-you may see a 'pop up' asking you if you're sure you want to disable it. Once it's off it'll turn white (from memory).
