Firestick Power Issues

We have an Amazon Firestick
To start with - it seemed to be fine
But now - it appears that the TV USB port is not man-enough to power it - giving an error message " "Overcurrent error on usb device occured. Please remove usb device and switch off the TV by mains power" on our Panasonic TV
This is odd - since we used it to watch several programs during the week - why would it suddenly require more current ?
I need to find an external power supply to power it.......

This can happen if the usb port has damaged contacts or possibly the cable too ..
Do you plug/unplug the device regularly ?
Might be worth trying a different USB lead to rule this out0 -
Yeah I have one too.
Something probably overstressed the device and so the problem occured. Might just even be that you watched something that was highly compressed and needed more power to unpack, or maybe things were updating in the background as well.
I has similar issues on my stick and my LG TV. I ended up changing the sockets at the TV for one that provided usb ports as well (so I did not have to waste a socket on an adaptor), and it has been fine since.0 -

We paid £35 but saved £20 on our subscription by paying last week - so that makes it even cheaper !!worried_jim wrote: »If you need another they are £25 today.0 -

Not a power supply - these are extra - but appear to be standard mobile phone type.... ??0
