Is that white thing hanging from something? Could certainly be a wasp nest
You can buy a spray that destroys it and the wasps.. I've used it in my shed before.0 -

We have a silver birch in the garden and these little !!!!!!s get EVERYWHERE! I remember dropping a panel under my dash in the car once to change my pollen filter and thousands of the things dropped out!0

1 They will have left the nest now and they don't return to the same one next year.
2 To use that stuff, you need to be fairly close and get it into the entrance, then get the hell out, as they would be mad at you. Good luck with getting down the loft hatch before they get you! It should only be used outside.0 -

Birch seeds, as everyone else has said. Bane of my bloody life every autumn, they get everywhere ! They blow into places you wouldn't believe.0
