Bewildering if you read reviews

It seems that no matter who you go to, there are a large number of people who are not happy with their broadband provider. I am currently looking to finally leave BT and am interested in both Sky and Talk Talk. for Broadband and phone use, but the number of poor review of ANY of the providers is disconcerting. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how best to choose?

Most people will only talk about their services/products if there is an issue. this is why you mainly see negative reviews. When everything is OK people tend not to go and state that everything is working properly for them and that they have no issues.Claire_Sheppy wrote: »It seems that no matter who you go to, there are a large number of people who are not happy with their broadband provider. In the end you will have to take a punt, choose a supplier that will provide the service you want at a price you are willing to pay and hope you have no problems or that if there are issues they are sorted out in a manner you are happy with.
I have been with TalkTalk, Plusnet, and now Sky. There haven't been any issues with the service and so I haven't had any complaints against them for that. I don't like TalkTalk however as their data security practices have been shown to be poor and our details were pilfered in one of the hacks a couple of years ago.0 -
As above .
It all depends upon what you need .
Better customer support and higher prices .
Or poor CS and cheap prices .
Bear in mind that many many ISP problems are actually user problems with WiFi a typical user fault .
Both Sky and TT will use the BT infrastructure as will the majority of ISPs .0 -

You can eliminate any problems on the user's side of the system, if you follow the instructions given by the tech departments.
PlusNet staff told me that I couldn't expect as a good a broadband speed with them as with Sky, because Sky use LLU, with getting a lower speed than with the provider before Sky (only 3 years ago) being attributed to more people being on line, nowadays.0 -
The the OP, try reading these reviews and see how many poor ones you find:

I have used this provider, for the last 13 years and recommend them to people that don't mind paying for a good service. In my case they threatened BT Wholesale with legal action for non-performance when BTW repeatedly failed to fix a line fault that took out my broadband. My telephone line made it to the front page of ISP review for a while :rotfl:

For all their faults (and they are legion), Openreach do a good job of keeping their backhaul network capacity in line / ahead of demand. Far more likely to be the ISP underprovisioning to save money. Sky has UK call centres and TalkTalk's are offshore. It makes a huge difference to the customer service.0

Exactly. Some told me there could be no fault with my modem, then another said she did tests, which showed very low upload speed, indicating that my modem was at fault, so sent me a replacement.0 -
