Thanks guys,
I get your drift jack_pott and I suppose I too should probe deeper into the finer detail from the suppliers who appear to offer the greatest savings, rather than just be grabbed by the headline offer.
It is all very much a pain to do this on an annual basis with utilities and insurance providers and I must confess to getting quite wound up at having to put myself through it.
I think I get your drift as well Cardew! For myself, I am up to the mark to do the work, the only barrier is my complete resentment at having to do it!0 -
When I switch suppliers I have no interest whatsoever in savings comparisons or TCRs, all I want is the unit rate and standing charge. I then put them into my spreadsheet and calculate the actual savings against my existing tariff using my actual fuel consumption history. I don't understand why anyone would do anything else.
It would help if the energy companies didn't go to such lengths to hide that information from potential customers. If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.0 -
I am surprised that energy companies don't quote their prices in Joules.
Instead of 1 kWh costing 15p it sounds a lot better to say 'for 15p you get 3,600,000 Joules0 -
Just had my reply from Ofgem,
Is the fact that they are aware of the problem, any comfort me? Not in the slightest!

[FONT=Arial, sans-serif]You may be aware that we referred the energy market to the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) as we recognised that the energy market is not working for consumers. We referred the market for a full competition investigation.
