Dehumidifiers

Have just found out that Ebac will give a loyalty discount to existing customers, but they don't advertise it on their site. This was said on Ebac's online chat forum "If you are an existing customer. Your would be entitled to a 10% discount from any machine from our website and can offer the FIVE year warranty for £30 instead of £45".

Interesting.

  • i used to have an ebac and bought a diff make 2nd time around and didn't know i could've saved money @ ebac. i emailed them to get confirmation, see below. why don't they advertise it?

Thank you for your email regarding customer loyalty discounts.
Existing customer discounts can only be obtained by telephoning direct and not through our website.
This is NOT because we do not wish our existing customers to know of this offer, but merely causes confusion to new customers, so this is why our loyalty discount are not present up on our website.

If you would like further information on our loyalty discount. Please telephone us on 0845 6349899.

    Kind Regards

The 'discount' comes with an undeclared "up to 62p per minute" charge on your phone bill, courtesy of the premium rate 0845 number.

Most organisations have scrapped these expensive numbers and moved to the matching 0345 number.
  • just saw that Ebac have offers on some dehumidifiers - free 5 year warranty (worth it's weight in gold) plus some other bits and bobs included. just ordered myself one. used them before and their stuff is good but you do need the 5 year warranty, trust me, they do go wrong. but if you have the 5yr thing then you're sorted

Got a £90 'Argos Value Range' one a few years ago, been rock solid and removed several litres of water a week. Too much money wasted on brand names and their extended guarantees (why do they need an extended guarantees if they're so good ?)
  • No, not an Ebac advert - I have had 2 of their machines and just think they work well. And for me, it's all about the 5yr warranty, cus they don't last in my experience - not just Ebac, other makes as well. I guess that's why the normal warranty is 2 years. If the manufacturer was confident that they would last longer, then they would offer longer warranties. Like washing machines for example, they can now come with a longer warranty cus they are built better (in some cases I might add ;) )

I thought I would update this thread, having just purchased another dehumidifier from ebac. The machine is fine. However, their customer service is appalling. They behave like children to customers questions - not recommended at all. To be honest, even though I got the free 5yr warranty, I may go elsewhere next time, just because their customer service is so bad, ie to send a message.

We bought an own brand (Challenger, in common with Argos)aircon/dehumidifier from Do-it-All and it failed after 14 months.

Luckily the Do-it-All manager agreed that failing after 14 months , while not used over winter , was grounds to declare it unfit for purpose, so gave a full refund (His company no longer supplying the unit which then required purchase via Argos).

People, I was in contact with, at the time, also said that their portable , other brand units had failed too, so I do wonder whether these portables are much use (compared to the more professional fitted ones).

My daughter got the Aldi one last year barely had it 14 months maybe a little more and that went kaput.

I have 3 at home one not in use had it for over 20 years from Currys it was matsui still works but a little noisy now. I got a 2 years old Mitsubishi MJ-E14CG got it because its quite compressor and it doesn't mind cold as it has in built heater which is kept in a cold porch and a EcoAir Hybrid Dehumidifier/Air Purifier also quite but not so keen on this model as it doesn't come on a set humidity level. The Mitsubshi whilst expensive model is well made

I'm at three years with my two de-Longhis and they are still working without a problem.
