Strange one, how to proceed

Afternoon all :)

Done a fair bit of reading before putting my claim in and actually went to that EU site that also said i had a valid claim.

I went with the use resolver method but have hit a little bump and want some advice. Will give a very little background first.

Booked flight via air france website from Manchester to Sofia with a transfer at Paris. The flight to paris was on time but we couldnt get though the airport quick enough to make the connecting flight. We actually got to the gate as they were closing. We asked them to reopen the gate and was informed our bags were not on the flight so they couldnt let us on. So a couple of hours later we were put on a flight to austria and then onto sofia. so we were over 3 hours late and of course they lost our snowboards haha.

So i logged my case with air france on resolver and escalated a few times and they basically admitted i had a claim but not with them. The first flight was oprated by Flybe and the connecting with Delta. so air france are telling me to contact them.

So do i believe them and contact Flybe or do i keep pushing with Air france.

Sorry for the long first post but dont want to get to the court action stage and find i am suing the wrong firm haha

Cheers

Ste

Compensation is always from the operating airline...it appears Air France was not the operating airline for either flight so no claim from them
Given your flight was on time and the issue was with getting through the airport meaning you were late to the gate (CDG is an airport to avoid for connections) I expect you would have a challenge getting either airline to pay up as neither were delayed
  • so would you say in this instance i will be best going o Bolt & Co as 70% or something is better than 100% of nothing
  • Not sure how Flybe can be liable for a delay when it had nothing to do with them. You missed your flight because you couldn't get through the airport in time, presumably because you'd booked a short connection.

You mention "...as they were closing" and "...asked them to reopen"
Were you at the gate before it closed/the time on the boarding pass?
If so and can prove it then you may have a case for Involuntary Denied Boarding from Bulgaria Air (assuming they were the airline)
If you were there too late, Delta are unlikely to pay anything.
Was the delay through the airport due to exceptional queues at immigration etc or just that you booked a very tight connection

Was there a delay on the first flight or not? It isn't clear from your post. Your connecting flight wouldn't have been with Delta by the way.
  • He said that the first flight was on time. The problem is that he didn't allow enough time for the connection.
  • Bott % Co will tell you if you have a claim or not, they wont take on the case if you don't. FYI, you'll end up with less than 70% though, more like 55%. We got back just over £500 from a £900 claim. They're good though, and sometimes it's the only way. Like you said, something is better than nothing.
