Selling New Phone
I am no expert on mobiles and wondered if someone could answer my query? My wife has just got a new Nokia N95 on contract from Orange - however she has decided its a bit too techncial for her and wants something a bit more straight forward. Having seen what price these phones are selling for on E-bay, (around £250), could I sell the phone and buy a new PAYG orange phone - but simply put my sim card in the new phone to run it as a contract phone (all for a tidy profit as well). Would I be breaking my contract doing this and would the new PAYG phone work straight away with the contract sim?

As long as the PAYG phone you get is unlocked (or locked to Orange) then yes, just pop in the contract SIM an it will work fine.0 -
Many people on eBay do this.0

Hi Now33, you need to check the T&C of the contract to ensure that there is no clause which states that you must use the sim in the phone they provide (as my contract states)
The only time you must use the sim in the phone they provide is if you have insurance with the phone so that they can cover you if you dont have insurance i would sell the phone and get the samsung g600 which is about £200-£250 and not as technical or alternatively the Sony Ericsson W880i0 -
no u can do just as u say.
I do that with all my new phones...I jusrt sell mine in the Loot...I only need a simple phone too..0 -
Just a general note for others considering this: if you are with '3' be sure to get a 3G phone to use your SIM in else they will get onto you because, I believe, they have to pay to use non-3G networks (they don't have any of their own, whereas the other networks are all 2G with 3G added on by them afterwards). The thanks button is here to the right. If you find a post saves you money, gives you useful information, or you agree with it, take a second to thank the poster!
