  • Stainless is a problem to keep looking pristine.......but then it is a kitchen, no worse than stainless appliances, and cleaning often is not a bad thing! Ask yourselves why it is often used in commercial or food preparation areas.......

I have upstands which match the work tops and glass behind the hob and on the windowsill. I have a very light green colour. Not too in your face! The fitting was done by the kitchen installer along with the rest of the job.

    I think it looks great.

    thanks pattycake ,
could you post me a pic of your kitchen, as that is what I think I need to go for as well
my kitchen is only small, its along one wall , about 4 metres and then sink unit on side about 1.5 metres, making a sort of L shape.
I have upstands so will probably go for same as yours, just behind hob and above sink and windowsill.

where did your fitter get the glass from, was it a local glass company.
and did he cut it himself or was it already cut to size?
    Nice to save.

No idea where he sourced the glass. It was a local tradesman who project managed the whole job. We had to have the kitchen replastered when the old one was removed plus there was 1st and 2nd fix electricians. Our guy even organised the skip!

We picked the glass from samples he brought for us to see. The installer measured up for the glass after fitting the kitchen and came back to fit it. It's a large kitchen and utility. I admit to not being very computer literate so I am not sure how to post pictures. Sorry.

The whole job was circa £10k but from memory, the glass was surprisingly inexpensive.

    ok , thanks pattycake,
our kitchen has already been fitted , but tiling etc was not included, so that's why I am having to try and sort that bit out myself
also, its an extension so newly plastered.
    Nice to save.
  • We have recently been updating our kitchen and opted for upstands, same as the worktops (slate grey from Wickes - look brilliant!) and have tiled above with black glass mosaic tiles with a deep sparkle -

With under unit lighting and a black cooker and hood, they look amazing. We have used black grout too, so the tiles really stand out against the cream walls.

You don't have to have plain splashbacks:
