ive tried to post my link but it literally won't let me however I try

If you Google "Most of you will have seen on various social media websites that The British Plus Size Awards were cancelled at very short notice yesterday evening. As ever social media has been fantastic at supporting others and spreading the news of what is going on" I wonder if that will take you to my site

The event was offficially cancelled on social media just after 5pm, up until at least 2pm they were still chasing people for ticket payment and telling them bank transfer was the only way to make payment

I have reported to Action Fraud and I have encouraged others to do the same. Does it need to be reported seperatly to the police? Can I do this online somewhere?

Someone has suggested Small Courts Claims, but I am not sure if this would work/is viable

Thanks for all your help x

I think you need to consider that the company is now insolvent, in which case what little money there is left will be shared among creditors. Of whom you are one.
Small claims would be a waste of money imo

So technically the company behind this event was MoonLit Media, who don't seem to be insolvent... yet. My concern is that she has started up and closed many companies with similar names in the past, so should they be reported to someone more than Action Fraud? It is my belief she was asking people for payments, when she must have known that the event would not be going ahead

Is this one of their websites?

    http://www.britishplussizeawards.co.uk/

You can view the site on google cache:

    http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:http://www.britishplussizeawards.co.uk/

They've got a phone number: 0330 124 3295 but it goes straight to voicemail.

Maybe you could try and contact one of their "acts" for the night? The Sundaes would be a good place to start - https://www.facebook.com/the.sundaes.group/

They seemed like they were going until it was cancelled!

Yes that's the website. The acts were all told around 5pm the night before that was cancelled via email. None of them have been able to get hold of her since. Phone calls have been unanswered, even those that were "friends" with Linda and have personal contact details etc

What other companies has she started up and closed?

I could only find links to 4 companies - 2 of which are still active.

Okay so theres one more company in addition to the 4 I found - uk plus size events. So 5 in total, 3 dissolved and 2 active over the course of 7.5 years.

Failing to see anything that indicates scamming or phoenixing though. Thats a relatively low number of companies compared to most "entrepreneurs"

From looking at the history, it seems shes absolutely hopeless with paperwork which leads to compulsory strike offs being actioned, rather than voluntary strike offs.

Fair enough. I wasn't sure what was normal. She has run a club night monthly for over 10 years so I assumed they would all be run by the same company rather than new ones restarting in the background. She cancelled an event a few years ago and people didn't get their money back because she told them "BGP Media LTD" had closed down and she was now trading as a new company.

Mostly my question is - The event sold around 300 tickets at £90 each. None of the performers, presenters, models etc were paid. The event was cancelled without explanation and no refunds offered. Websites have closed and social media disappeared. Payments for tickets were mostly made by bank transfer to a personal bank account.

I have reported it to Action Fraud, is there anything more I should/could be doing?
