We went to Currys yesterday and bought a 65 inch Sony 4K TV. When the guy was processing the sales paperwork another guy came a long and tried to get us to buy a new cable for about £89.00 We said no and then he said something about giving us a free disc as well. We again said not interested.
However the guy who was processing our paperwork said ok you can have it for £59.00.
On further investigation we found a £15 cable or less would do the same thing.

Hi,
sounds like the 'good cop', 'bad cop', ploy.0 -
If it was an HDMI cable then one from the poundshop would be fine as well0

Your name rhymes with cable.
Do I win £59?0 -
So that's why they wanted me to sit at a table and wait for a salesperson when I went in to pick up my reserve and collect! No wonder they looked irked when I said there it is on the floor over there I'll just take it to the till shall I?0

£15 is still very expensive!. More like a £1 - £2 cable!.
A Curry's employee once tried to sell a similar cable to my grandparents. I then went on to explain the difference between analog and digital signals and then asked him again how this cable would provide a "better picture" but he couldn't provide an answer.0 -
One of their current ruses is to offer you a free sign up to a Currys Business Account.0

Good on you for not falling for that old sales trick.
I don't think I have ever paid more than £3 for an HDMI cable (and that included delivery of ebay),
Probably bets to get a 2.0 cable for a 4K TV though.IITYYHTBMAD0 -
