tesco - selling joke weirdo glasses- where is the joke?

Options
I was in a tesco store, and was surprised to see them sell joke glasses under the title "weirdo Glasses".
Fired off an email to Tesco as why they think that wearing glasses should make someone weirdo.

This is there response.

"Thank you for the recent email. I'm happy to reply.
I am sorry that you're unhappy with the weirdo glasses we sell. This product is part of our fun, joke range and is no way intended to cause any offence.
As far as Tesco are concerned we feel we are not giving out the wrong message but I have recorded your comments"

There are some people who have to wear these type of lens and it is a cheap joke by tesco.

Anyway has anyone else seen these products, and what other "joke" products will see next. Grrrrrrrrr

  • Thanks for the replies, that one of our largest retailers is selling products that can send out a mixed message is disappointing. That they have been selling these for a year or more doesn't make it less of an issue.

What exactly is the mixed message?

I think of myself as a well versed windup merchant and even i couldnt have thought of that one.

Seems to me the only people that take offence at something like this, are the ones with something they need to address in their own life.
Soolin told me something similar recently :) I dont but happy for anyone to have their own views and can think what they like of me :)

I wonder what the OP thinks of toy guns and children playing cowboys and indians and playing soldiers? My children can all shoot and know howto handle guns safely.
