I still have a Nakamichi DR-2 Tape Deck and some unused TDK Type IV metal cassette tapes. I remember testing the recording of CDs using this deck and tapes in the early days and, with the correct bias settings, I couldn't tell the difference between original and copy. The deck is still a beauty and although I have only a small collection of cassette recordings, I can't bear to get rid of it.0

Ah, so you've not had the pleasure of listening to well recorded music through some decent equipment. 'Decent' doesn't have to mean a mortgage job - just careful listening and choosing the right kit for the money you can afford - usually separates. It really does sound wonderful when you hear it done well.
I remember my first time with 'Hi Fi'. My girlfriend, now my wife, was babysitting for a well off couple back in the 70's and they allowed us to use their Hi Fi. I hadn't heard anything like it. I just sat listening and thinking, crikey, so this is what it's supposed to sound like.0
