They found the space for the (much heavier, much bulkier) vinyl, but not for the device that plays it back?0

As a medium I couldn't wait to see the back of vinyl as it's inferior in every way to digital; Audiofools don't even go there and ask yourself why all recording studios are now digital. The artwork was great but that's what picture embedded tags are for.
Do I miss hand cranking a car on a cold, wet and windy dark night ?
Nope.Science isn't exact, it's only confidence within limits.0 -

All my music is on vinyl and cassette, I've never bought a CD. In fact I've only ever bought one HiFi system, and that was back in 1984.0

I am an Audiofool according to Fightsback, the one who likes to rain on everyone else's parade. Well, it's much more than the sound, it's a remembered experience, it's the way that some of us oldpharts first knew recorded music. I also have 100's of LP's and 45's stored away and some are worth quite a lot of money, but I do like to listen to either CD's or MP3's in electronic form in the car. The vinyl is for serious, relaxed listening via my Arena amp and Lenco/Goldring Hifi.
Go stick in your earbuds, Fightsback!I think this job really needs
a much bigger hammer.

In the late 1980s I put together a new HiFi separates system. CD player, tuner, amp and speakers. Vinyl was dying so we bought a second hand turntable from the newspaper ads. We still had a large vinyl collection. I'll never forget looking at my wife when we played a record. It sounded so much better than the CD. I remember checking all the connections. Just could not understand it
I had a similar experience in the late '80s having bought a good quality Pioneer separates system and later adding a Rega Planar 2 turntable. I'm no audiophile but one album I had on both CD and vinyl definitely sounded better on the vinyl. The CD sounded flat by comparison. Stupidly lent the turntable to a friend and never saw it again.0 -
