Any experiences cancelling Virgin Media contract early?

Hi folks,

Looking to find out what experiences people have had when trying to cancel their Virgin Media contract early.

My husband and I have separated and I'm trying to reduce my bills. Hoping to just get a freeview box, get rid of the house phone (literally never use it) and just pay for broadband with another provider.

I'm on the basic TV package (formally known as Big Easy bundle) with Talk weekends on my phone and the 50MB broadband. My contract runs out next August.

You don't say how much you pay?

You appear to be on the basic package.
Virgin are the only company that will do Bb only.

I think your stuck with them until they announce a price rise in which case you have 30 days to leave. You just missed one in October.

You could try ringing them and pleading hardship but I expect you will only get £2 off.
