What is unfair is the day before going on the speed awareness course you are overtaken in the middle of a small town (30mph) by two idiots going over 40mph, yet you're only going on one because you missed 1 sign (police sat with speed gun at second sign). I still cry about it now.
  • Sadly it's like Russian roulette driving over the limit , one takes ones chance there isn't a camera van or person with a speed gun , most of us know where the static cameras are.

Thankfully more probably by luck and keeping more or less within the limit have never been captured but I am sure my luck will run out at some point, I have had several counting down the 14 day moments though.

My view is "Its a fair cop guv" can't really complain unless signs wrong or abuse of process due to some " clutching at straws" loophole everyone hopes they can make use of.

Never understood the whole sign thing. So what if there wasn't a sign to warn you of a speed camera, it doesn't change the fact you were speeding and there is evidence to show that.

I meant the actual speed limit signs.

The camera signs are there as more of a way of trying to slow motorists down, there are more signs than speed cameras , in fact it makes people more complacent as think no actual cameras just signs if people can't spot a big yellow box ( unless hidden behind a tree) maybe they need glasses. Most speed camera vans I have seen have also been fairly obvious with the camera signs on the rear and the blue/white squares, not to mention the frantic flashing headlights of oncoming motorists.

The smiley illuminated faces apparently work as people want to get the face to smile, maybe that should be extended with more comical signs if you keep to the limit, maybe they could even fit a box to cars and if you pass them at the correct speed you get points to exchange for gifts :T

It's all a bit too subtle for the motoring board methinks.
  • You knew you where speeding, you where caught. Grow up and accept the consequences. That man 'who jumped out from behind a tree' could have been a child running into the road.

In future, slow down before it really is a child.

Before jumping on your outrage bus, have you actually read AND understood my post?

How much over the limit were you????
Doing 35 in a 30 limit seems to be OK, I got done for 37 in a 30 limit, unfamiliar with the country road and thought it was a 40 limit.
So when the letter arrives just get on with it and don't do it again.
If you go on that road again make sure the speed limit signs are all there, yesterday I drove on Sheffield Parkway, a dual carriageway, some a 50 limit but NO 50 repeater signs, just clearway signs, so good defense if caught speeding.
  • My flabber is ghasted, are you trying to tell us that following a smash and grab raid that you actually...pause to sit down in case the answer is in the affirmative...had a visit from a real live flesh and blood copper?

Nope don't believe a word of it, sure you didn't cause a snowflake to have palpitations by some offence you managed to cause on faceache by mentioning the W (work) word? that would trigger a heavy visit, but reponse to a genuine theft? not just a crime number issued by a plastic bobby? amazing.

Yes think of the kittens that may have died. Owning up and accepting the consequences is outrageous.

No wonder this country is broken.
